so i pulled the trigger and ordered oem 4.10 gears from moesperformance.com

i was wondering is the installation process hard to do yourself or you will actually need a mechanic if i could save myself $300 bux will be sweet.

i did save myself around $250 with my converter as me and my buddy did the install took us whole day but worth the savings.

so are the gears something we can do as well if yes how, what process need to be made???

if no then i have to prepare to waste more cash into a shop :(

Gears are complicated, you need a press to press on the bearings, micrometer , dial gauge. I'd recommend practicing on a junk yard axle if you've never had one a part before.

On gear threads, it should be mandatory that the OP states 4X4 or not, and RFE545/645 or 8. It would save up a bunch of time and space.

I paid a lot, but I took my truck to the best place I could find, and I "waited in line" for six weeks. $1100 for front, and limited slip rear. Mine has been perfectly quiet, and worth every penny. Love my 4.10s.

I wouldn't tackle that job for any love or money. I visited the shop while they had the front end apart. And I'm here to tell you, it was APART. More like gone. But, like I said, it's perfect now.

You will love your 410's, I did the same swap. It took months for the gears to break in and for me to notice the difference. At first I was really pissed, I thought it was going to be this instant dramatics difference but it wasn't. BUT, after a few months the gears hardened and my truck was really starting to perform better and now I'm pulling high 4's and low 5's on my 0-60. Few things you need to know is the tranny temperature will run about 20 degrees F hotter but will go back to normal after the computer learns the new gears. Second thing is be sure to change out the rear diff fluid after the gears get broke in, trust me. AND to answer your question I would have a shop or the dealership do it. Not easy!

Cali, having a 2wd, and already having the lim slip, puts you in good shape.

Kind of hard to tell in your avatar, reg, club or crew? I'm diggin that groovy Blue.

The mods you already have, set the stage for a romping truck. You're going to love the 4.10s. guaranteed.

As others stated, if you've never done it yourself you're far better off bringing it to a shop and having the work done. Most guys don't have the required tools to do a gear swap in the first place and setting up gears is not something you want to be guessing on. If you do it wrong there's often no second chance. Something will be broken or worn wrong.

Changed over to Yukon gears on a couple of SVT Lightnings and fords are a bigger PITA than the rear end setups that Mopar uses. You definitely need to get a hold of a dial indicator and make or buy an adjustment tool for your carrier bearings, which is way easier than fiddling around with shims. If you have even a drop of doubt.... Throw your money at a shop.

Before you jump you should seriously consider 456s ,I’ve had them for about a year now and have NO regrets . You will like the 410s ,but will always think how much better ,more exhilarating the 456s may have been . Especially with the 6 speed these make more of a difference off the line. I get a shlt eating grin every time I drive now! !!!

^ +All that. I love my 4.10s. But I can't help but wonder what could have been.

4.10s are a good all around gear for the 5/6 speed. They tow really well. Plus they don't rev all that high on the interstate.

I'll bet 4.56s are a hoot.
