Hay everybody. I have a 2016 1500 with a 3.6 motor. If my 3 way coolant valve is sticking can this cause my trans heater o rings to leak?

My 3 way valve is throwing a code for about 3 weeks and just noticed a trans leak

Thank for any help
Robert

Hello,

I’ve been having a intermittent CEL light come on with a P26A6 code. It claims to be associated with three way coolant valve. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 3.6l

Info seems hard to come by on the code and coolant valve.

The three way valve is just there to redirect coolant to the TMU if it is not needed to heat the cab(heater core). As for it causing a leak, that highly unlikely. There was actually a design change to the TMU to address leaking o-rings(the problem usually occured during assembly).

As for information about the code, if the P26A6 popping up, change the valve. I think someone bypassed the valve and posted about it, and I don't think it's used in some of the newer model year Ram trucks.

There's updated transfer tubes available from the dealer that get rid of the leak prone o-ring tubes. There's video's out showing how to change out the 3 way valve,it's mounted on the passenger side frame rail under the airbox on the hemi trucks, not sure where it's mounted on the 3.6 trucks, but i'd guess it'd be in the same spot.

My 2016 (3.6L) has thrown this same code on and off for 2 years. I haven't noticed any issues, so I don't worry about it. That valve seems like a pain to change. It doesn mess with the remote start though.
