Hey guys. I'm new to this forum and to trucks, but not to car modding. I've searched prior to this posting this as well. I am lifting my truck about 3 inches with .25" spacers. I see many of you running 35" all terrain tires with no fitment issues and smaller lifts, so I started looking for a large highway tire. Why? To fill the wheel well, better traction, softer ride. (Factory 20's). Also, I travel quite a bit with my job. I put about 35-40 thousand miles a year on my vehicle.

Michelin makes the Defender tire in various 34" and 35" sizes. They are the only brand that I have found that makes large highway tires, but they are about $100 more than factory size. My only hesitation is if it will be worth the extra $400?

Has anyone run these tires in these sizes? Some input would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

With 35 inch tires your MPG will go down significantly. With that much highway driving I would just keep what you have. If not you will be wasting money on the tires, the set up and the gas!

Thanks for reply, TD. I forgot to mention that fuel is not an issue. My employer pays for it. I have an ecodeisel, and already plan to have it tuned which should take care of my torque loss.

I would spend the extra $400 to fill out the wheel wells.

Almost put these on my truck but when I pointed out the tires on another vehicle to my wife she said to me she didn't think they'd look aggressive enough on my lifted truck (that's what I get for trying to find some nice riding 35's........) but I was essentially looking for the same thing as you so if that's the tire that suits your needs, go for it. I'd love to see them on a 4th gen and stock rims!

As it happens, my truck is getting a set of 35x12.50x20 Mastercraft Courser MXT's (instead of the Defender LTX's) tomorrow morning

Yeah, they really are not much to look at. Those MasterCraft tires have quite a bit more testosterone.

my experience on the MXT is they suck in the rain and snow. of course snow is not an issue for you. these were on a wrangler JKU.

The sidewall it what really kills the look, the tread itself is pretty deep in person, couple of different family members have them. They are a very nice tire IMO. The MXT's do look pretty mean, curious how these will be compared to the Toyo MT's I used to have.........the price difference is HUGE!

Well I hope they do ok in the rain.........thank you for the honest feedback sir.
