Quick question. I'm a 4th gen guy. I've had an 06 and 05 in the past but I bought my dad a pioneer double din for his 06 Cummins for Christmas.

Bought it at a local shop to support them, but was using Crutchfield for info and noticed they recommended Idatalink for the install. Was surprised by this as I wouldn't think an 06 would have enough connectivity with Idata to make it worth it. I have Idata on my 2017 but that makes sense.

He has a Big Horn so not fully loaded. I don't even know if he has steering controls I don't think he does.

Should I just get the basic wiring or is there some reason to get idatalink minus if he has steering wheel control?

Thanks

In my 08, I just used the PAC module from Crutchfield . I have steering wheel controls but never use them so I didnt get that feature.

Cool thanks. I think idatalink is a little overkill for an older vehicle. Will probably go that route
