Cam is at the Post Office, Rain and snow for next 24hrs, Thurs cold, Fri to Sun highest maybe a whopping 38-60 F.

Ordered the Taylor 8.2 in Blue but not Shorties, went long 16 ea and bought some Morrosso separators cause these likely wont fit in the ratsnest tray. The 10.4 shorties where out of Stock up North. Wires should be here tommorrow.

For push rods I think I'll go 6.1 intake and 5.7 Exhaust.

First thing in the Morning I will start. Read the Mopar paperwork and it says to run the 6.1 Platnum plugs gapped at 40 thou, so I got them on sale for 45$ with my discount. They are "gappable" and come at 44 thou, so at the end of the day i will be running a 1 colder plug. For those wondering, yes I am a copper plug fan bigtime and based on my own experience learned that our motors don't like the Iridiums! Promise next post will have pics Rain, snow or shine, and lots of Kureg made starbucks coffee in my Ram Cup.

Its gonna be nice to see how that Mopar Performance bump stick compairs to the 6.1 you have alot of time with. The CS gave you to many issues in your truck for you to get a feel for it I think.

Just typed an update, hit the wrong button and lost the text, so here is the short of it.
Got pics, tired of the snow, freezing ice pellets, rain so called it for now as I have to go to town to pick up my wires.

Rad assy is out and the damper has been removed along with some other smaller jobs. Will tackle the rest of the dissassembly probablly not till the morning.

All Dissassembled. Headers off, sanded and ready for paint, New Cam is in the Motor. Tonight and/or Tommorrow is header painting, Clean valve covers and replace Crank/Timing Cover Seal for good measure (another Run to Town) and swap out plugs then re-assemble everything in reverse order. Maybe new Taylor wires will arrive tommorrow and my Airaid MIT ordered yesterday but that won't be in till next Thurs. Pics from day 1.

Intresting on the vise grips on the cam bolt. We rotated up the lifters then would use the cam bolt to slip it out some then support the cam with the free hand. Never wanna head the thud of a cam hitting the ground.

Yeh i use my free hand, but the visegrips give a nice straight leverage and I find it works like a charm to keep it level as you gently clear each bearing hole with each large cut on the cam. The design of having the smaller diameter at the end guides my Theory and the Vise grips is like you grabbing an M16 (or C7 in my Case) by the Barrel and lifting it straight out to the side at 90 degrees while at attention. Builds the Forearms...................bla...bla....Flashback.......PTSD.

Got the headers wiped down with Grease/Wax Remover then painted with VHT, last night!

Man, What a Day, Picked up the Taylor Wires, Pretty cool as they are each marked where they go (IE: Cyl #). Also Bought 8 new NGK Coil/Boots/Springs since the Truck does have 258,000 KM. Also Got the new Damper seal and a .99 cent Hockey Puck to help with the Install (Dry Fit). Tools on Sale at 60 off so got a set of 3/8 Drive Metric U-Joint Sockets 10 to 16mm. Before Dark I installed the new Plugs and disconnected the Rats Nest of Wires and unplugged all the Coils for revamping (Everything Tagged from Previous swapps).

As for pushrods the ol 5.7 ones frombefore have too much wear at the rocker end to be used IMO (they had 200,000 KM when I first Cammed/pulled them). So Great plan B is I dug out the ones from the Magnum (36K American Miles on those and very little wear. I decided these as the Cam is a direct replacement for the Factory Cam and recommends 5.7 Springs so in keeping with that thats how I'm gonna roll with it.

Will post up more Pics on Sunday and maybe get this thing close to wrapped up/weather dependant. Dissapointed in the turnout on this thread even though I ramble on but am wondering if anyone turns a wrench anymore (the 4th Gens will soon start wearing!)

Regards Fellow RamForummers! Danny. I just Cracked a CZECHVAR beer! Later.

Keep on Shifting!

Danny I think its just me, you, D and Ryan for the cam guys that are on sadly. Either people have sold the trucks or just went back to stock and no longer talk performance. Greg is not stateside and just talk to him on emails. Hell I like seeing you changing up the stuff like you do, gets me wanting to swap to a bigger cam again (damn you lol). Im really wondering how its gonna feel in the truck. Im guessing it will be a sooner powerband with the same amount of useable topend.

Yeh Thats what I am Hoping For. I am Betting the TCI will love it and the Tranny will have a hard time keeping up with the Gears. The Ignition parts and Mopar Header Gaskets along with SC and the Cam should fix my woes I hope. Anyhow Seal installed last night along with 8 new Coil Boots and springs, oh and did I mention plugs are in. Tommorrow I am gonna giver and try and get this done or at least up to the rad and ignition install we'll see.

Betcha I can smoke theKnobby Duratracs more than 30 feet when I'm done! Will see I am not a Kid only at heart when your talking 384 CDN a Tire.

Your set-up on a 112 is an envy Man. Would love to build a big motor some day! So When you getting Caltracs and a Stage 3 VB.....Fuccccccckkkkkkit save for a 7K Edelbrock!

PS. tell Greg I'll be in Touch to Givem the Low Down next time you Talk. I'll check the Ol guy Hemi Site!

Whew..:waytogo:.good to go! Based on the self induced stress caused by a real bone head move when taking the timing chain apart without ensuring the marks were lined up (and I should know this as its the 5th Cam Swap this Loner has done) my Grade 9 Education did not fail me as I figured it out and either got a horseshoe up my butt or I'm a Genius but all is well at Danny's Outside Gravel Garage. Gonna go for a test drive to town as my Inch Pounds Torque wrench is busted (almost another disaster) and I need a Headlamp as the light is on.
Cams running well and took a few minutes to rid the airlock in the coolant but sorted that out with the Ol loosen the T-Stat bolts/air escapes/thermostat opens. Got some pics and a short video and so far no Hemi-Tick with the 5.7 Rods :shake:

Congrads Danny. You had me scratching my head the other day, reading vs seeing is night and day to me. I know you will give a full report after some miles on her.

60 Mile Road Test was Great, No leaks no cells just 25 Bucks in Gas but my mileage is better even though I had to back off the throttle a few times, never had a problem with the ass-end breaking loose sideways before on an on-ramp at 30 MPH with the other two Cams! That must be a good sign! Small video of the Idle, Sleeper exhaust note, and in Cab Rev limiter/revs. Will try and find time and place to do some other more exiting vid stuff when I get time or when the son in Law "Artillery Gunner" gets out of the Field and comes to pick up my Daughter I can get him on the end of a camera.
