Well long story short the Ram has had little attention lately other than 800 bucks in exhaust work, TRX Rims and new Fog lights. Soon the Magnum is going away for the winter and enough spent on her for this year. So with the story not getting shorter I went to look at some new trucks and with the 2013 coming out with new air ride and interior upgrades I backed off the 2012 clearout deals. For 6k more I could get a 3500 Diesel but the Overall MPG in canadian liters per 60 mile consumpsion was only 4-5 bucks more for my 03 that i already own verses the payment for 84 months (these trucks are 62-77 K dollars Canadian with maybe 10 k off if haggled).

So back to my thread, I'm gonna keep my truck, do a few mods AGAIN and for xmas present buy me a new 30-35 ft lightweight RV.

So for this thread Build I will do for the third year in a row one more final Cam swap.

Ordered 1 x Mopar Street Cam 116 LSA (paid) last one available anywhere.
Cam and Crank Bolt ordered.
Next couple weeks while waiting for cam in the mail I will order,
An AirRaid MIT (modular intake tube) and Taylor 8.2mm Thundervolt shortys in Blue.
I have new gaskets left over from my BBK shortys project on the car to replace those and repaint my ****** Shorties on the Truck.

Once I get the trailer I will do a Hellwig sway and front Ranchos.

I will figure out my new laptop and throw-up some pics for you entertainement as this thing gets going. Have everythin I need otherwise other than some ATF-4 and Mopar Coolant and some Oil, etc and maybe a longer Oil filter.

Thanks
Danny

You got the new motor I don't think it would be doable. The cam coming out is anAC version 6.1 which I think I can get a hundred for it up here in Alberta.

Pretty sure with the 4th gens the heads and lifters differ as I seen a whole mess of new cam applications on the Inertia site. Speak to Moes. I chose my new cam carefully and its still just a theory for me at this point. Was gonna just get a crower timing chain and advance the 6.1 4 degrees, but with my choice it can run on stock PCM and no SC should I need to and will start towing about 6500 trailer too

Danny ya sure your not gonna use Mopar exhaust gaskets???? Other then that sounds like a solid plan. My dad has a 2012 1500 and its very smooth and comfy to ride in but just is not mean enough to me (cant tell its running half the time).

Gottcha! I think I found a solution for the rods based on the lengths of the KIT from Mopar. Will explain my theory when i get a minute but basically a 5.7/6.1 rod mix. I am well aware of the Gaskets I SHOULD use but can't remember whats under there now? Gotta wait till i pull them off. They do not leak just need a paint job and better bolts. Gonna use the 6.1 bolts that got locker on them.

The mopars are just cheap insurance not to have an issue IMO. I had thought of using the 6.1 ones when I tossed on my longtubes because there was a few sets at the shop but went ahead with grade 8's with lock washers and at 6k on them none have backed off. What are you going to paint them with?

Well the last paint was VHT with ceramic and they flaked off in no time. Just gonna buy some plasticote or something with the highest temp I can find.....have a can of tremclad flat black and brush on the stuff?....na. I took your advice and phoned in an order for left and right manifold gaskets from the dealer and some more 6.1 bolts which are awesome to work with using 1/4 " drive.

Any tricks or suggestion on paint would be appreciated but remember Canadian Brand names...LOL also whats your take on adding steel wool into a bunged O2 sensor (downstream I think) as I am troubleshooting a P 013 since my new HD muffler install. Don't beleive I have any leaks in exhaust but def more backpressure, however a Map sensor and fuel inj cleaning treatment may be due as well. So either steel wool or try another **** extension added to the current one. So thinkin of doing the header job and fix that code job while waiting for the cam to arrive as I also got next five days off and:********: wanted to fit my hood pins on the Magnum.

Check and see if any local shops to you perform the ceramic coating. There are some around here that do it for around $150 which is well worth it. Far as the steel wool luckly I havent had to battle that but cant see why giving it a shot wont work.

Ya heard of some of the SRT cars with Highflow cats are doing the steel wool thing. I should have just paid the extra for ceramic headers when I bought em but nil stock and couldn't wait at the time. If heats not an issue I would say the chrome or stainless is the way to go. Its been 3 years since they were installed and changed the collector bolts once and she is driven year round so not bad I guess.

the only thing i would change, aside from the mopar gaskets, is the Taylor 8.2mm Thundervolt shortys..... In cold weather they have had issues. Be better off going with the 10.4mm

^True on the shorties seem to be hit and miss on them. I have thought of just looping my long wires back into the wasted spark to see if I would have the same issues or could run them. Have really wanted a shorty wire in red but dont want to have the topend breaking up.

Wasn't aware of the cold weather issue. And it does get fkn cold up here. Am running these on my Magnum no probs but it will be stored soon. Will keep an eye on it on those cold days that I fire it up at the garage.

10.4 on the 10.4's, I'll do a check for the Part#. I mean I don't care what it looks like other than the rats nest of wires deleted would clean up the top of the intake nicely. The current Champion set is coming up on 4 years old so I think I need a change. Copper plugs are from last fall with maybe 12K miles on. Would love to do a 6.1conversion or Red MSD Coil set but want to keep costs down for this fall project as I want a Hellwig sooo bad.
