Yea but she's wanting a hemi so I have to do what the boss wants lol I guess that's my cheapest way out bec it looks like the 5.9 uses a diff trans
And the 4.7 is expensive and under powered

When I replaced the engine in my 03 1500. I was replacing a hemi with another hemi. I found an 06 engine with 60k miles on it. I ended up paying $1800 for that. I didn't have anything break or go terribly wrong but all told I probably had a total of $2000 in the project. That includes new oil, antifreeze etc. I would think switching from a 4.7 to a 5.7 would require new power steering pump, A/C compressor etc... As well as a new wiring harness. I think it might be tough to keep it under $2500. But I know nothing about the 4.7, so I could be very wrong.

I have seen people on other forums swap the 4.7 for a hemi so it is possible. I never looked into how much went into it though

If you are doing this yourself or even if your not can you try and document everything as I'm sure many people including myself would love to know what needs to be done to get this to work properly.

Yes I'll be doing it myself at my shop I've located a few donor trucks at insurance salvage auctions in my area I can pick one up cheap the last went for $2,600 I think it was a 04 it was hit pretty hard in the rear I almost bought that one but wasn't ready for it yet . If I go this rout I will def document it very well . I just like to research before I jump in is all

Replacing the entire wiring harness might be incredibly difficult. My engine replacement was a replacement. I did not have to change anything to make it work. But an entire donor truck might give you the vast majority of the parts you need. Keep us updated. I am incredibly interested to see how this works out. Where are you located?

If you were close, I would have offered to help, just to learn how it would work, but I'm in Illinois. Lol. My brother lives in Palm Harbor though, so I make it down to the warm climate a few times a year.

The donor truck would work the best, you could do all the harness, pcm and ignition if it had the sentry system.

You'll need...
Complete wiring harness from headlights to plug under dash. The Drive by wire box under the battery tray..Computer..And motor mounts .. I'm not sure if you'll have to change the location of the Motor mount perches on a 03'..I cut mine off and changed them because I didn't have Hemi motor mounts , couldn't find any , and didn't have time to look..So I used the 4.7 motor mounts and made them work..It's very important to get the ECM , with the motor you buy , and "Don't" get one out of a truck with the computer chip on the key.. You won't have to change any dash wires . If you need help email me , [email protected]...I will be starting a thread here tonight that will show all pics of my swap and how to do it..
