4.7
just got truck - 4.7 with 6 speed std - really like it
question ? mornings are now colder (0-50F) - when i start truck it rattles a bit "noisy"
my guess - lifter noise due to cold oil
give it few minutes and she is quite again
called dodge they told me no issue- no worries

so whats the best oil for these 4.7's
name brand ?
grade tru or syn ?
visocity rating ?

i am of the opinion that i need an oil with a real good "tenacity" so the engine parts stay coated when the engine is turned off and the oil natualy flows to the low points ?

thanks

GO with Castrol Full synthetic. That is what I run in my daughters truck and never had a problem. As far as the viscosity just go with the recommendation in the handbook. You may also want to get either a filter relocation kit with a check valve, or a filter with a check valve that keeps oil in it and in the upper cylinders. That will eliminate part of the dry start problem.

One more thing to concider using: Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer. It helps out big time. Most auto parts stores have it.
