My 2002 ram 1500 does not seem to be down shifting when I get on the gas. The truck seems to be a real dog but I feel that if I could adjust the kick down linkage I think it would it help but I'm not sure how to do it. Some posts I have looked at say it is under the truck and since my truck has a lot of rust I am wondering if it just needs to be freed up a bit. The truck has 144,000 miles on it.

Welcome to the forum. This not like the old days my old friend. All transmission function in your truck is computer controlled; no kickdown linkage to adjust or throttle valve cable to mess with. Only cables going to your throttle body are from the gas pedal and for the cruise control.
You need to give it more throttle input, though you can check to see if the TPS is not signaling right, but otherwise, unfortunately a 2002 4.7 hauling around a 5000+lb truck IS a dog. Only 240hp @4800rpm and 300 ft/lbs at a relatively high 3200rpm with that much weight doesn't exactly make for a combo that readily gets out of its own way.

Thanks, is the TPS the throttle position sensor and is it easily replaced? I go to the junk yard pretty often so I could grab one and try changing it out to see if it makes a difference.
