I tried using Alfaobd to pull my pin code but it failed, so I went with the Chrysler Pin Puller app and retrieved my 4 digit security code to program a new fob. When I go through the steps in Alfa it is asking for a 5 digit pin, I am not sure why I could retrieve the 4 dig pin but I need a 5 dig to register a new fob. I have been searching for answers for this on here and anywhere else I could find. I did read someone mentioning that Alfaobd may ask for a 5 digi but it is a bug? Anyone else run into this, or does anyone have any suggestions. So far I am 0 for 2 on Alfaobd, getting frustrated, but figure I am probably doing something wrong, just not sure what. My truck is a 2021 classic which from what I have found uses a 4 digit code, I think.

I've heard of this, is your AlfaOBD app up to date?

I have been through this trying to install keyless entry (key fob) on my 2023 Ram classic which came without one. You must have the 5 digit rolling pin code from the dealership and even then you can't access the right code using AlfaOBD. This is a new anti-theft measure, and there is no way to avoid taking it to a dealer. The code changes every 12 hours. One dealer didn't know anything about this and quoted me $800, claiming he had to do all kinds of work. Another dealer quoted $100 to just do the programming, which is all that is required. It took 5 minutes and he only charged me $65. I spent a lot of money on programmers and software only to learn the hard way.

Good luck finding a dealer who isn't a crook!

I have been to 2 dealers and both flat out said no, they cannot give me the code, its against stellantis policy. BUT if I want to pay them for an appointment they can get the code, but I cannot have it no matter what. May have to look at a locksmith maybe

Sometimes if you go to the parts counter (not the service desk) they have access and will give these codes for free...YMMV

That should not be right

If you own the vehicle, the code should belong to you
But dealerships have always charged for 4 digit PINs,
the Parts Dept, may be different

I recently went to a Mobile Locksmith store, to get a new FOB
I did not ask for the PIN, but i did not need it, they programmed everything

Now that Stellantis/FCA/ Chrysler have gone to slightly better security, they went with a 5 digit PIN

Wouldn't it be funny, if the 5 digit PIN was 12345

Because the Original 4 digit PIN was 1234, when the dealership first took possession

Jscan pulled mine and was able to make 2nd key on 2021 and it hasn't rolled to new code in past couple of months! Did use gateway bypass though.....such a waste to not be able to reuse or up cycle a used key..has to be a new un- programed key.....

My understanding of rolling codes is that it's like a device pairing and both devices roll together using the same cryptographic algorithm so that they maintain their pairing. So it's not that your code hasn't changed (it's changed many, many times) but rather they change in sync.

So, using Jscan I pulled a code, it is 4 digits with a space in the middle IE 12 34, is that a normal 4 digit code, with the space, or is that considered a 5 digit? I have tried the code with no space in Alfa and Jscan to program a new key and it has failed in both.

Interesting, that would be hilarious if the unknowable 5 digit code I've heard talk of was just the addition of a space for the 5th position. Will Alfa let you enter the space?

So after disconnecting from house wifi, I was able to pull the pin, so 2 apps pulled the same pin with the space but when I try to program a fob the code process fails. it usually times out.

You may have said weather or not your fob was new or not I don't remember but if not have to be new I also remember after the program sequence seems like you had to push the start but to run or acc. I am at the office but fixing to leave I'll run through it cause I remember had same issue I was like dang I'm this stinking close!

The FOB is brand new, and it is not push to start, like you said I am so close but feels like I have hit a wall at this point. I appreciate any input you can give.

I've only ever helped by brother-in-law flash new FOBs and install a WIM in his Town and Country (but I pulled it from somewhere on 4th gen Rams), but the process should be the same (although you will need a SGM Bypass on your 21 Classic). I'm posting those instructions here to get started, some of it may not apply to you (WIM module replacement) but I'm posting it all just in case so nothing gets missed to see if it helps you...

Procedure for 4th gens:You'll need your 4-digit PIN code to program the new WIN and your existing keys to work with the new WIN. You can go to the dealer and ask for it (should be free), or just use AlfaOBD to read it from your existing RF Hub.

Obtain PIN
1. Insert working key into existing WIN, turn to run position with engine off.
2. Have your OBD interface connected and AlfaOBD running and connected to the interface.
3. Select the following on the main screen in AlfaOBD:-Car Model-> Your truck model (My truck is a Ram 2012 (DJ/DR))-Function-> Radio Frequency Hub (RFH)-Control Unit-> Wireless Control Module (WCM) - MY2011-12 non-PowerNet Var. 1 (There's a Var. 2, but has the same procedures as Var. 1, so i just used Var. 1, don't know what the difference is between the two)
4.Tap connect to connect to the module on the next screen. Connection status will indicate if you're connected or not.
5. Tap the icon of a car with the hood up in the lower right corner.
6. Select the following in the Active Diagnostics screen procedure to start -> Read PIN->Tap Start. Will display your trucks 4-digit PIN which will be used to program the new WIN and existing keys. I got my PIN from the dealer and verified it using this procedure.-After obtaining your PIN, turn off truck, remove key and remove old WIN. You'll need a phillips and T20 bit to remove and replace the WIN. If you already got your PIN from the dealer you can skip the PIN retrieval instructions above and just proceed as below.Program New WIN1. After installing new WIN module, insert working key into new WIN, turn to run position with engine off.2. Have your OBD interface connected and AlfaOBD running and connected to the interface.3. 1, don't know what the difference is between the two)4.Tap connect to connect to the module on the next screen. Connection status will indicate if you're connected or not.5. Tap the icon of a car with the hood up in the lower right corner.6. Select the following in the Active Diagnostics screen:-Transfer Secret Key from PCM->Enter 4-digit PIN->Tap Start. Let the programing run, will say complete when finished. Cycle key off then back on, you'll have a flashing security light (red light at lower right corner near fuel gauge). Now program your existing keys to work with the new WIN.

Program Existing Keys (and new keys)
1. Insert working key into new WIN, turn to run position with engine off.
6.Select the following in the Active Diagnostics screen program Ignition Keys or Key FOBs->Enter 4-digit PIN->Start. Let the program run, will say testing complete when finished. Your instrument cluster lights will be on when it's done, this is normal. Cycle key off then back on and test all functions. You existing key is now programmed to the new WIN. Rinse and repeat for any additional keys. This is the same procedure if you are programming new keys.

This info came from somewhere on this forum, but I pulled the instructions from a text I sent my B-I-L when I let him borrow AlfaOBD to fix his.

So, I tried again last night, as soon as I enter the 4 digit code and hit proceed it fails instantly, followed the steps to the letter and still nada. I believe the code is correct, as I have pulled the same code using 2 different apps. but it fails. I even tried programming in Jscan and it times out. Alfaobd shows procedure failed. I am so close but so far...
