Using the catch can no matter the brand or cost.
What’s the difference in the cpv valve system between the 5.7 and the 6.4L?
I have a can and want to put it on my 6.4

I Love My 2018 RAM 2500HD 4x4 6.4L

I am very sure the 6.4 is an internal system and there is no catch can option. Do a search here for "6.4 catch can".

Mounted to airbox. Nothing on the dipstick in the can after one week here in the mountains but....did an oil change and during that I unscrewed the can to find about a tablespoon and a half in the bottom. Its working and truck runs a little better. Redline fuel system cleaner has been shipped. Thats next.

I installed my $36.00 catch can from Amazon this past weekend. As much as I love the aluminum mounting arm on a few of the more expensive catch cans it wasn't worth the difference. I liked the dipstick and my color option too. As well the location of many of the cans look like it's a bit difficult to get to. I'm not tall and even though my truck is stock height I'm on a stool to do about anything in the top of the engine. I didn't make the prettiest install but it seems very functional and easy to get to. I appreciate reading everyone's experiences in this post and their pics. I'm excited to put some miles on my truck and see what I catch

I relaly like that mounting idea! I would just worry the upward slope of the hoses might affect how well it catches (or does that not matter because its all vacuum anyway?)

If you're in a climate where the temperature drops below freezing I would have it slope down toward catch can.

And that I am, so Ill have to use a lower spot. Didnt want to use the airbox because Im guessing it has to be drilled to screw the bracket to? Dont like the idea of having intake air possibly bypass the filter.

If you mount it below the filter level you wont have to worry about that.

I bought one on eBay for around $35. Quality seems very good, except the hoses they sent were ****. So I bought some hose at the auto parts store and a couple of 1/2" fittings for a few bucks, and I am good to go. I will be installing on Friday morning, so I will post some pics.

Just wanted to explain why it's a good idea to have it below the CCV inlet and outlet ports.

Because there's water vapor in there what you don't want to have is condensation and eventually freezing to block the line. Always slope down to catch can.

Its talked about a fair bit on diesel car forums. VW and BMW that I've been on.

Remove the filter box lid and filter. Then pull straight up on the bottom section of the air box to remove it ( no screws holding it in). Then drill two holes and attach the catch can. Then put it all back and run the hose lines.

I like not having to drill into anything.
The black hose matches all the other black hoses under the hood.
Of course I’m all about that .
That’s why I got the black billet .

That's the one I installed last year. Good kit. Good hose. Some kits come with cheap hoses.

Only issue I had with it was the Z bracket mount bolt was too long and bottomed out in the block before cinching tight. Had to grind it down by 3mils or so.

And collapses under vacuum lol. Some of these auctions show decent Goodyear hose but actually include stuff that looks like dollar store garden hose. Still a great deal if you have to spend $10 on decent hose locally.

more this Jdavil--- collapses because it's weak hose, nothing to do with fancy factor. One guy said his had garden hose stamped on his.

I heard of that so I added a locknut and a washer.
No issues.
I took it off my 2016 before I sold it .
It’s going on my 2018 too.
