I checked mine yesterday with a little over 300 miles on it and it just registered on the dipstick, maybe a couple tablespoons of liquid. Mine was the color of cappuccino and very watery, I'm wondering since I'm still in the 20's at night if a lot of what I'm catching is just condensation from the constant hot/cold cycles under the hood. I'm thinking once it warms up this spring I won't catch as much, only time will tell.

Also for those wanting to buy one, don't fall for the ones that cost $69-89 they are same can with just logo change, same cheap hose etc. Get cheapest one that looks like this one, some 1/2 fuel line and 1-2 1/2 inch fittings and your good to go. Edit(if you buy the style like I have in photo a few posts back).

I think the only thing thats worth paying extra for is one with the Z-bracket, since that bracket seems to be made for bolting right to the engine itself instead of having to mount a universal bracket elsewhere. But I dont think that feature is worth 30.00 more...maybe 10 or 15 if you can find it.

Does that z bracket fit all 5.7 engines? Some don't list 2018 as compatible. Would hate to deal with eBay returns so just trying to make sure.

Ya rotwiler, normal, at least like mine! 2017 installed and drove same, about 100 miles and pretty much looked the same.
I bought mine for 68.oo, came with z bracket, 2 lengths of black rubber hose. Worth it for everything needed for install, no running out to get parts to make it work

Hey all. I just got one in that I ordered from eBay. Quality is very good and am so far happy with it. Although mine was not $42 bucks, it was $86, including shipping. Everything installed great. Glad I could save a few bucks, I went with the black one and if I had gone that route with the Billet one, it would have been an additional $25 bucks plus a longer wait for delivery.

Here is the link to the one I got.

Did you mount it with the spacer on the outside of the catch can mount.

Well on mine the spacer went on the inside between the mounting arm and the head for the wires to run between the head and the mounting arm.

If you blow this pic of mine up you can see part of the spacer and the wire bundle that runs between it and the head. 2e53ea51f72948e106d751d16cdae223.jpg

Same one I installed. Like that comes with everything and quality hose. Also had to add washers to the bolt.

Checking mine every 1000 miles. 3 to 4 oz of yuck. Cold climate.

Towed for first time this year, RV(4k pounds). I had just put the catch can on when I posted here, so in under a month, probably 450 miles total, caught 1/4 cup, mainly oil, but a little condensation, has been around 38-50 outside lately. Was not expecting it to catch so much.

For those who have the Amazon catch can without a Z-bracket, where/how did you mount it to?

I see a couple pics where people clamped them to the A/C hard line....Im not sure I like that idea (will it cause the line to break eventually?)

Also curious if I should worry about voiding a MaxCare warranty because of the catch can.....

Mine is mounted to the airbox.

I cant see how they could claim a CC could hurt anything to void a warrenty, I think it does just the opposite.

Clamped mine to the ac line and no it will not cause any harm to it. I think I have my writeup with pics on page 2 of this thread. I like where I placed it, as it is easy to get to, it does not budge at all and I don't even need a step stool with my 6" lift. However, the ac line location I used may not work with a K&N CAI or any other CAI that needs that area for the mounting arm. I have S&B, so no issues.

Using the catch can no matter the brand or cost.
What’s the difference in the cpv valve system between the 5.7 and the 6.4L?
I have a can and want to put it on my 6.4
