4th Gen Crew Cab Seats in a 3rd Gen Quad Cab

Any final updates on this? Im actually thinking about swapping a set of Gen4 seats with heat/cooling into my 2005 Ram SRT10. Im curious about the wiring and how hard it was to direct connect some on off switches.

I had a set of Laramie seats from a CC and was installing the rear seat. I did similar to you, in switching my QC seat brkts to the CC back seat. I found the the QC brkts aren't strong enough to keep the bottom seat cushion up when you need it up. So i put the CC brkts back on and cut 2 inch off the back and bolt them back in.
I will do like you did on the seat back hook. Great idea and job.

How do you keep your seat back from falling forward when you fold up the seat bottom? When I fold mine up, the seat hooks come out of the retainers and the seat back falls forward. Thanks.

This is a different issue then what you PM'd me about. With the way I had to cut the retaining hooks on the back of my seats, the seat back still fall forward when I lift the seat bottoms. I just hold the seat back with my free hand until the bottom is all the way up and the retaining hooks catch again. It's not ideal but it does work.

Yeah, my rear seat bottoms don't seem to fold as much with the 2012 seats but they do stay in place when they are up. The only annoying thing about this is the cargo tray doesn't stay up by itself very well now. I don't have to use it too often so haven't worried about it too much yet.

Thanks for the clarification. I know I was asking a random question mid-stream. I saw that you had done something similar to what I'm trying to do, but as opposed to my attempts so far, yours worked! I didn't get to the point of actually bolting my QC brackets to the floor because I was doing a test fit and trying to fold the seat. Had I gone the 90% route and bolted them in for the test fit I may have been able to do what you did to make your seat bottoms fold up and the backs stay up. As it is, I already undid everything and removed the QC brackets from the seats so I'm back to going the cut-the-CC-bracket route... I don't have the patience to re-attach the QC brackets to the split bench and reattack...!

Have you finished wiring yet? I ordered 2019 Laramie seats and center console for my 2006 and wondered how the heat and vented seats get wired up.

Did you ever get the wiring figured out? I was told it won't work because the prior to 06 trucks don't have the tipm that the gen 4 seat heater and fans require. I am actually gonna try something else since no one else seems to have gotten it to work. I have 2018 laramie heated and cooled and I bought the 2003 seat heater module. I am gonna try to splice in the seat heater wires and pray to god it works. If you already figured this out on your seat I would love to hear about it an save myself a hole mess of trouble.

i put longhorn seats in my 03 love them still no heat or ac fan on them but i did grind my 3rd gen seat belts to fit fourth gen seatbelt recievers does anyone know which wire is for fan on 13 seats?

Currently swapping out my seats out of my 2006 ram single cab, was able to get both electric seats but my truck is not prewired for heated seats like the 07’s, has anyone wired their seats in yet? My seats have the modules mounted under the seats, @tiger Hays i have discovered the two wires (one red and black) coming off the actual fan are the power and ground, then just trace those wires back to the harness connector, i have read once you wire them in if the fan doesnt kick on, just swap the wires and it should work, has anyone figured which wires are the ones for the heaters?

I've done the same swap, but I haven't wired up the heated seats yet. I believe I've already sent this link to @tiger Hays but can't hurt to post it here. This has wiring diagrams for the 4th gen seats.

You have to source wiring, if there isn't an existing harness there for it you have to make one and run it to power. Also have to swap your existing seat belt connectors from your seats as the ones on the 4th gen seats are different. Best place to find them is either Craigslist or ebay.

DOing same swap on my MegaCAb 2006. Got some longhorn seats.
I can figure out the wiring for seat movement. I can tap into fan.cooling on seats. But these are supposed to controlled by the heater control module.
This heater control module is connected to CAN bus I think. So the only "easy" way to control it would be using the CAN bus module...
I wonder if I can just connected thatn CAN bus module to CAN bus and it will be found. If it is.. I can easily build a CAN button control for it

Any ideas?

If someone tells me how to control those heating elements... I can also work some boards for it. It has feed and return... as well as temp return wire (PTC).
Now.. voltage? ideas? I would need to "measure" a running system to know signal levels...

I am also in it to see if someone figured out the wiring aspect of this. I have a 2006 mega and I have a set of 2014 black leather megacab Laramie seats that are heated and cooled. I have factory heating on my 2006 Laramie Megacab so i am hoping this can be addressed.

Id someone that is better than myself and building a fix, I would definitely be in to buy and adapter wiring setup.

So i haven’t looked much into this lately, but I guess I can spitball a few ideas I’ve had

It looks like the switches for the front two heated seats run through the CAN-bus on the 4th gens since they’re located way up in the dash, so that would definitely be a PITA to wire up. HOWEVER, it looks like the rear seats use standard off-one-two switch type similar to most aftermarket heated seat switches.

If thats the case, you may be able to move a few wires around on the HSM to essentially run power from the rear seat heater wiring into the front seats (rear left to driver, rear right to passenger, that sorta thing). Wire up some switches and splice into the right wires and bam!

I’m running on no sleep so I’m not sure of any of this, i may just be going crazy. But its worth looking into
