I recently went camping, switched my truck into 4wheel drive. It did go into 4x4 mode and soon service 4wheel drive appeared and now the truck is stuck in 4wheel drive, not so good for city driving. Any help or similar would be great

Need to find a scanner that can read chassis codes. Bluedriver is around $99 and can read the serv 4wd codes. U can pull shift motor off transfer case and use pliers to shift back into 2wd until you figure out fix.
Id first try to unhook battery and clear codes. Then when you start truck it may let you shift into 2wd before it trips code again locking you out.

To add you’ll know more of what direction to go with codes as there is many other things that can set that light. Etc. ABS issues, wire problems, speed sensor, TCCM problems, or the rear or front shift motors and more.

As an OLD off roader I would check for transfer case bind first. Did you drive it at all on a solid surface and do you have a 2wd position on your transfer case shifter? If the answer is yes, jack both front tires off the ground with the transfer case in 2wd. This can "unload" a stuck transfer case as soon as the tires leave the ground. If it doesn't correct it, it didn't cost anything to try.
