You might think by that number huh? It is actually from having my abs module disconnected to service it. Side effect has been that it has cut out the speedometer too. Just thought it was funny seeing the number that low.

I have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 with a 5.7 hemi. It's 4 door long bed. It's got 14000 miles on it. They aren't hard miles. I've had the truck for several months. My grandpa willed it to me. I can't get rid of the truck because it's special to me but looking for some ways to increase mpgs. It's completely stock motor wise. All I have done to it is 2 inch leveling kit and I put new exhaust from the y pipe back. I put a one chamber to turndown dumping it right before the rear axel. It still has the cats on it. I'm new to this forum but looking for some ways to increase the fuel mileage. Thanks

Every mod available to increase mileage combined with driving VERY carefully will not give you enough of a mileage boost to make much of an impact to your wallet. If you magically got an extra 5 mpg (I don't know if that's even possible) with gas at $3 per gallon you don't save much.

Let's assume you drive 200 miles per week and currently average 13mpg.
200 /13= 15.3 gallons x$3.00 per gallon= $45.90 to fill up. If you increased your MPG by 5 MPG then your fill up would cost $33.33 saving you $12.57.

The mods required to achieve 5mpg would would cost a LOT. It would be YEARS before you made your money back. Add to that the fact that none of the mpg mods are a sure thing (one guy saves gas with a tonneau cover, another guy sees no gain) you are fighting a losing battle.

Physics are against us :(

I break out in uncontrolable laughter everytime im just cruising on the highway at 65-70 mph and i get passed by a prius! (Happens more often than you would think around here)
My friends ask me whats up i say that prius right there is using more fuel than we are at the moment, way to be green, *******!
Must be in a hurry to meet his butt buddy for lunch and a quickie in the back of the prius :p

Ive driven the lexus hybrid prius size, ch200 or something like that
Trippy to say the least, moving around in near silence and the regen brakes grab like hell when you get on the pedal.

Ive also driven the gmc sierra hybrids, they must not have sold many because ive only seen one lol. The operational range of the electric part is about like our MDS in town, just creeping around and taking off from stops like slower than a grandpa. Anything after in town speeds or any throttle the dash says v8 mode lol and then it goes like a regular old 4.8 haha

I personally think hybrids are not the future. If every car in the world had as many batterys as a hybrid would we have all the materials on hand? Oh youre going to mine some more? With diesel machinery? This is like the ethanol scandal, it costs more fossil fuels to produce than you are actually saving
For now we need to concentrate on hyper efficent diesels for everyone, untill we make hydrogen work in cars!

Didnt gm do a pilot test a few years ago where they sent out something like 50 tahoes all over the states to be used by regular people? I never heard the end of that, and i didnt hear much about it...

08 1500 megacab with 5.7 hemi. 12-14 steady with a 50/50 mix of highway and city. Got 16 once when I made multiple runs to the airport (50 miles each way).

I've seen as bad as 9 when in 4x4 a lot (go figure in Alaska), but this winter you guys have had more snow in Georgia than we have here.

Ive had my rumble bee since october and the best mpg so far has been 9.7.
Without the mds these things suck down gas. Just for comparison my 6 cylinder ford work truck gets 16-18 around town no sweat.
My 392 superbee will get 12-25 mpg.

I stay around 13, but if I'm in no hurry on the interstate I'll try to draft off a big truck and save a little gas.

That 22.8 MPG for you non-metrics.

2014 1500 Laramie 5.7 Hemi With tonnau cover and air suspension (Loving Aero mode). Brand new, got it two weeks ago and only have 2570KM (1600 miles) on it yet. Can't wait for the first oilchange and summer to see how high my MPG can go.

Those are great numbers!! What is your rear gearing? What does your EVIC say your average mph is? Any mods?? What type of cab? One of the highest MPGs I have seen!

13.5~ish city and 19~21 hwy. I drive like a grandpa though.

Thinking about loosing the big stock 20" wheels (33" dia tire) and going with a smaller wheel/tire 16" or 17" (29"~30" dia tire). That might help city mpg and would definitly help with towing. Should make the truck a little quicker too...

Uh.. this is embarrassing, I have no idea of my rear axle gearing. I'm guessing 3.55 but the dealer could have sold me anything since I never asked. During that stretch I was driving 90km/h (56mph (speed limits around here...)) for 1,5 hours straight, no stops or slowdowns.
No mods except the tonnau cover and beautiful weather.
Crewcab.

Well, dealer promised 9.0 L/100km so I'm not quite there yet.

Oh, yea, while I remember, I'm filling it with 98oct. (RON)
