If its not for privacy/look, if you check out the TSER spec sheets on ceramic tints, you really don't have to go particularly dark these days. I went 30 to stay legal and give it a bit more privacy and matching look w/ the factory 20. Just avoid metalized, as people say it screws with signals (cell/gps/etc).
Windows down hands in view their job sucks they have to deal with idiots all day so don’t be one.
I prefer to barely crack the window and ask them incessantly if I am being detained, and remind them that I am not driving I'm a sovereign citizen traveling.

How is the durability of tint? I've seen so many that appear to have bubbles. Sorry for the hijack. Not.

In NY it's now part of the vehicles annual inspection. You have illegal tint you don't pass inspection, and from what I hear they do it in such a way that you can't get around it, other than removing it. That being said I already know a handful of people who remove it and reapply it each year.
This goes for NC as well. And once it fails , the vehicle is flagged for tint failure.

I have 15% ceramic coated and not only does it keep the sun out, the ceramic coating keeps UV rays out which cuts down tremendously on the heat.

UV isn't heat...IR is.

Most tempered glass blocks most UV already.

I had 5% tint all the way around on my old truck for 14 years and never got pulled over for it or checked. But that is in SC, where there is no inspection and they do not care.

About to get my new truck done

I have 5% tint all around also, Love it. A must in FL. Otherwise, you'll fry while driving especially while sitting at a light and the sun is directly to your left LOL

Any place worth a darn will have lifetime warranty. If they don’t, go elsewhere.

I talked to a guy before having mine put on, he said he will not pass a vehicle with tinted windows. BUT if the wins are down and he can’t put them up to look, he doesn’t worry about it. Guess I’ll find out next year.

I was told usually only the windshield has good UV treatment. But considering how much damage UV can do to your paint despite its UV protection in the clear and bleach even dark tints over time, I would imagine even that would degrade over the years.

Haha I love a good loophole...so make your windows inoperable and go in then, that's great!

Loving it. Hoping it was the same as my challenger and it seems to be. Not dark at all in the daytime. I don’t drive a ton when it’s too dark so not gonna worry about that. My challenger caused way more issues just from the pillars blocking view than the tint ever did. Drive past an officer sitting by the school on the way home and he didn’t chase me down lol. I think I’m pretty safe around here as far as that goes.

I did 5% on the rear and backs and 20% on the front. 2 weeks ago got a state boy suffering from small D syndrome pull me over for the tint and not having a front rag which the law is changing for. Anyway my fronts measured 12% lol.

New York you cant have tint on the two front windows driver and passenger. Also you cant get truck inspection which is yearly with tint . I miss my tinted windows. keeps the truck cool in the summer sun:(

NC state inspection laws suck when it comes to tint and the reason is due to all the damn taxes being paid already for vehicles. I have to renew my tags and its going to cost me 400 due to them putting a heavy vehicle license plate per weight which is another crock of ****. I don't have anything to tow and probably never will! :nono:

The tinting laws vary by state. In TX, when tinted, inside the tint, on the drivers/pax window U R required to have a sticker that states: Who did the tinting and that it complies with TX Transportation Code: Tint Req TX State Law.jpg

ADDED: Diff states have diff laws. Sometimes DA will be hard and sometimes not. I used to carry a tint meter. If the tint was just stupid excessive, well they get a lil piece of paper. If close, honestly depends upon the person there, just saying.

BUT TX as of 2018 will not pass a vehicle inspection if Yer tint is not within state laws...

Window tint darkness in Texas The percent of visible light allowed through your car windows is called VLT: Visible Light Transmission. Tint darkness for sedans: Windshield: 25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in. Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used. Rear Window: Any darkness can be used with side outside mirrors, 25% VLT without. Tint darkness for SUV and vans: Windshield: 25% VLT tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches, with less than 25% reflection. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in. Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used. Rear Window: Any darkness can be used with side outside mirrors, 25% VLT without. Window tint reflection in Texas Window tint can reflect incoming light and reduce glare and heat. Texas window tint law permits a certain window reflection when using a tint so make sure you pay attention to this as well. Tint reflection for SUV and vans: Front Side windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective. Back Side windows: Must not be more than 25% reflective. Other Texas window tint rules and regulations: Texas does have several other important laws, rules and regulations pertaining to window tinting. They include the following: Side Mirrors: If rear window is tinted dual side mirrors are required. Restricted Colors: Tint colors red, blue and amber are not permitted for use on windshields by Texas tint laws. Certificates: Film manufacturers need to certify the film they sell in the state. Check with your dealer if they are using certified film. Stickers: The sticker to identify legal tinting is required between the film & glass on the driver’s side window. Medical Exceptions: Texas allows medical exemptions for special tin
