Actually just uploaded a revision today. The initial base tune and first revision have been much better. I’m installing a wideband so we can dial in a/f

Yea I would definitely put one in. Seems like it’s the best way to dial it in. You may as well do it while it’s unhooked and just weld the **** in on the bench

Sneak peak of where my gauge is going. It’s in primer but I’m gonna paint it and install it when the gauge gets here. I didn’t like the off the shelf options

They don’t make a full A pillar for a single gauge and I don’t like the look of putting the pod over the a pillar. I wasn’t really liking the look of the steering column one. The texture is off from oem. It would be different if I was running boost or something but I’m really just using it to dial in the tune.
I wouldn’t have put it in my center stack if I couldn’t of had it angled at me

Going with a PLX

My 2011 5.7 took a dump last week at 77K miles and I'm looking at swapping in a 6.4 crate engine. Any tips?

I put a potential parts list and pricing together here...

Thanks. I'm actually looking at a new crate motor, complete from throttle body to pan, not a long block.

May want to consider the SRT car 6.4 over the truck 6.4 as it makes more power. A crate SRT will need a truck intake manifold, timing cover, rear sump setup, accessories, and sensors.

Notwithstanding the intake manifold, can't I transfer the rest from the existing 5.7?

Yup, just worth considering current mileage on existing parts vs getting some new parts while you're at it for preventative maintenance. I'm definitely going overboard on the new parts because I'm planning on turning the long block into as close as a crate engine as possible to help facilitate a quicker swap since the truck is my daily driver.

Yea you can. I reused my oil pan, timing cover, sensors etc
Thanks. And the intake - do I really need to source a truck manifold? Or will the SRT manifold clear? Just trying to keep costs down as I wasn't anticipating installing a $10K engine at 77K miles. But still happy to pay more for a new crate 392 than a plain jane 5.7 reman.

The car intake points the wrong way,and runs into the alternator brackets on a truck. What let go on your 5.7? If it didn't feed a bunch of crrap back through the intake ports or through the pcv system, odds are you can re-use your original 5.7 intake

I was gonna suggest that too.
