Hi Everyone. I'm about to service my 2022 2500 4x4, 68RFE transmission. Does anyone know if I have to use the Mopar filters, or can I use other brands and still remain under warranty? Thank You

RFE trannys have 2 filters - both inside the oil pan.

There is the traditional sponge element in the suction tube, then a secondary canister filter in the valve body - same as an Allison Transmission (a REAL Allison transmission - not the fake Ford & GM ones), except Allison puts theirs outside the transmission case where you can get at it without dropping the oil pan. Oh well, so be it.

Many of us change the sump sponge filter once then leave it - the sponge is synthetic (doesn't break down quickly) and after the 1st oil change there isn't as much gear and clutch wear debris to rough-filter.

The valve body filter keeps the passageways and orifices clean, so it is important to change it every oil change. The Mopar filter has a cheap paper element, so we've been using synthetic. Royal Purple and Wix. But now Royal Purple seems to be going out of business and Mann-Hummel bought Wix and is cheapening them so I don't know what to tell you. There had been NO reason to pay Mopar big bucks for an unpainted, galvanized paper element filter.

I bought a will-fit Wix oil filter and stripped the paint off with paint stripper. So far, my 66RFE hasn't exploded. :p

Thank you for the information. That stinks about Mann. Mann used to be great filters. We used them at work on our de-watering and water transfer diesel engines. Baldwin was our main filters though for most of the equipment.
