Have been looking at at new trucks on line and found a truck that I thought would be worth going to look at.
My question is it states it has a 5.7 & 6sp with 3:55s and I guess I was under the impression that a 2015 would have a 8sp and maybe 3:92s or 3:21s (or whatever the higher gear is) so did they still make the 6sp in 2015 ? It did have a column shifter.

Thanks

What trim level is it? I was under the impression they still put 6 speeds in the Tradesmans and the 8 speed is an option. Not sure what trim level the 8 speed becomes standard...

I was looking on line and also saw the 6 speed vs 8 speed deal, so I'm curious as well. :)

From what I have read the 8sp is a much better trans so not sure I will even bother looking at the truck now and then the 3:55 gears dont help either would much rather have lower gears then that.

Just thought it odd they still use the 6sp .

The 8 speed is a far better transmission and I think if you can find a 3.92 rear end you'll be more than satisfied.

Definitely hold out for a 8 speed. My 15 Laramie has the 8 speed with 3.21 gears the 2012 sport I traded had 6 speed with 3.55...... Night and day difference the 8 speed tows much better feels faster on take off and averages 3-4 mpg more. Plus my 15 has lsd my 12 was an open diff so that's a huge plus too

8 spd with LSD is an excellent combo, even with a Pentstar:)

Trust me that a 6 speed with 3.55 is not a death sentence. I'm sure that the 8 speed is a wonderful tranny, but I still get a big smile on my face every time I accidentally get a little too much into the throttle and light the tires up with my "lowly" 6 speed with 3.55. :naughty:

8 spd is a far better trans. I currently have the 6spd/3.55s and I drove an 8spd/3.21 recently. There's no comparison, the 8spd is a far better trans.

The only downfall to the 8spd is maintainance. It has "lifetime" fluid and the filters are built into the pan which is $360. Fluid is $45/quart. So if you're planning on keeping the truck keep this in mind.

Never a doubt in the capabilities of your truck, just newer technology

Looks like there is not a truck like I want with in 100 miles of me, guess I am not really read to buy right now (hopefully in March) so maybe something will come up by then but if not I will order one.

Was hopeing to find a new 2015 so I could get a good deal but this 2015 Express is the closest thing I have found to what I wanted but no buckets, no 8sp and then the higher gear set is just to many things off my list.

So when you order a new truck how long does it normally take to show up at the dealers lot.?

Unless you have some connections it will take 8-10 weeks to arrive after you order.

I went from a 6 speed to the 8 speed and found the 8 speed is much better. Really helps with fuel mileage as well. I also have 3.92 rear with true dual exhaust, 87mm Ported Throttle body, S&B intake and Diablo with Jay Greene's custom tune. I average 23mpg on the highway.

Sounds about like the list of things I would want to do. 23mpg is doing real good what do you get in town?
I will br putting 35s and a small lift on mine so Iam sure that will hurt it some.

City is a different story. Lol. Can't keep my foot off the gas. Maybe 12 -13 in the city. And yes...35's will affect mileage a bit for sure. I know a guy running 35's on a 6" lift and he is getting around 18 which still isn't too bad for our trucks.

Yeah 18 would be fine with me. I dont do alot of hwy mainly rural city (if that makes since) maybe i can get 15mpg on average.
I would like to have around a 3" lift with 35s on the stock Sport 20" wheels hopefully that will put it around the height of my 07 2500 thats on 35s and stock height.
