Is the 2025 the beginning of the 6th Gen Ram, or still the 5th? I have seen it referenced differently in different places. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Sorry if I misinterpreted what your intention was for this thread. You were asking for thoughts on whether the mid cycle refresh was 5th or 6th gen which is in essence opening it up for debate. You're new to this forum and, judging by your signature, also new to Ram trucks. So since your question made it sound as if you were unsure, I was just answering your question that they are still 5th gens. Doesn't matter if everyone agrees or not. 2025's are built on the DT chassis, just like 2019 thru 2024 models that aren't called Classic (DS).

It was because when I Googled it, it came back as being gen 6, however, like you did note, I am not familiar to Rams in general. Been a Chevy guy forever, but after driving a new Chevy and GMC I couldn't justify spending the money on them. Since they are on the same frame, I am thinking I tend to agree with you. Debate implies arguing points though, whereas I was just asking for informational opinions.

well if it's on the Internets it must be true... LOL!

If the typical vehicle generation cycle continues the 6th Gen Ram will debut for the 2030 model year. Given the move towards electrified vehicles that may come earlier. Although given the HD trucks are technically a Gen 4.5 as it still uses most of the Gen4 sheet metal, Gen5 could go longer.

Not sure how much forum experience in general you have, but asking for input in a forum environment invariably ends up with opposing opinions. This is where the debate comes in. Obviously your question wasn't debating anything. I was just heading off a pointless debate about whether or not they're 6th gens or 5th.

The different Generation of Dodge Ram & Ram pickups,
is usually explained by a change in the body lines or styles.

I almost expected that the Ram EV models would have a major body style change.

Sort of a wimpy look, if you know what i mean

The electrical architecture is 6th gen because it's totally different. No AlfaObd to tweak things like before.

The DS body trucks electrical system changed also with the mid-cycle refresh (2013 model year), there's no "generation" change with electrical systems.
Actually sounds like the Ram trucks are adapting a similar electrical system that's used in the Grand Wagoneer
