i have a pair of kicker ds 6x9 3-way speakers that i want to put in the front doors. my problem is that the basket wont fit in the stock hole. i do not want to cut anything so my question is, for those guys who used spacers; what did you use to make them or where did you get them from? the only idea ive had so far was to cut a piece of 2x4 to fit. any input is appreciated

Start w/ a cardboard template. Then use mdf. You can by smaller pre cut sheets of mdf also. No need to buy an entire 4x8 sheet.

Do you still have your stock 6x9s. They have the gray spacer attached I have the same kickers and love them. Otherwise mdf is your way to go. Put some putty or clay behind it for a god seal

Convert, for now.

small
Medium Density Fiberboard. Found at any Lowes, etc...you'd have to get a sheet of it, or you could go to Crutchfield and just buy some spacers.

Yes sir. It takes a little prying but pops right off. Just get it at the corners. The piece then fits right on to the new speaker. Super easy. I even got the harnesses so you don't have to cut the wires off and just plug into the speaker. Looks factory.
