Well, I just ordered a complete set of kickers all around that are sitting at my doorstep right now. I intend to install tonight when I get off, and if I do I'll let you know how they sound. I've got 6.5 going up front with the 6x9 in back. Crutchfield also send all installation equipment needed when you order from them. Just an option. I was also going low budget as I didn't want to "wake the dead as you say!" Just enough to improve factory, give a little bass, clearer treble, and simply enjoy the overall sound. I replaced my headunit with a full android system so it has xm, Pandora, spotify, Bluetooth, and whatever else you can put on android. I would love to know what headrest monitor you intend on settling on as I believe down the line I will do the same.

do I want the 2 ohm subs or the 4 ohm for this setup? I'm thinking 2 ohms.

I would get the dual 4ohm if you are going to just run one sub as you can wire it down to a 2ohm load. Now if you have an amp that can do 1ohm load you can get the dual 2ohm speaker but you have to make sure your electrical is up to the task of dropping that low.

as for the sub.....That's not the one you can buy at wal-mart is it? lol
No way, the WM line up is only 9-10 SKU's, and it is our entry, entry level basic stuff. Most of the proceeds off those sales are used for R&D to build up the stuff the B&M stores get.

Haha, I was assuming kicker was smarter than that, than to completely sell out. To be honest, you all probably make a killing by placing products there. No where local to me sells it (besides wal mart) so i havent kept up with what they've been doing lately.

Yeah, I'm ordering the 3.5s from Crutchfield just for those adopters. As far as the 6x9's go, I'm thinking of upgrading the speaker wire to 12 ga when I do the install.

As for the headrest monitors, we went with the Absolute DPH-980PKGG (Gray) Went towards the cheaper side instead of all out. They're just for the kids on long trips anyway.

I know Bradknob did a bunch of cutting in his build but he does show how to deaden a door correctly IIRC. I would try to get ideas from that as well.
I've been following him lately. Even joined another forum because of his ass, LoL

Welcome to the dark side. Muahahaha.

But seriously, if I can give one piece of advice... Plan ahead and build for expansion/upgrades. Look at my goals on the first page of my thread, then look where I ended up on the last page lol. You get used to the sound and always think u can get better. I'm sure most people aren't as bad as me, but ya know. Something to think about

Thanks to diyma I saved about 1k on speakers lol. Diyma classifieds are a helluva drug

I paid $230 combined for my L3s and MW172s. Total cost new for the 2 sets would be about $1k

How much modification is needed to install 6.5s? My friend has a set of 4 he is willing to give me for free....

Not a huge audiophile so sorry for what I'm sure is a basic question

I have a 13 crew cab express, if that matters. 5.0 and no upgraded stereo package

No way, WM courted us for 2 years, we kept saying no, but they really wanted our name. So the prices for say a Comp 10" is the exact same as a retail dealer that sells a Comp 10". We told them if they deviate, we will drop them. We will protect our B&M retailers first. The B&M dealers get the KX amps, fancy electronics, L7's, CVX, QS, etc. WM carries only the entry amp and coax and a few preloaded sub boxes.

Our bread and butter is B&M dealers.
