Really thinking about finding one...I've seen the Hemi clones, the AAR's, and the R/T 440's...

An original R/T Hemi or 440/6 would be probably way out of my price range. I've seen the 383ci Gran Coupe's with the 4 speed pistol grip Hurst shifter that are not too badly priced. I've only seen a few 440 Barracuda's less than $40k online in a few places.

I want a driver and not something that would take $30-$40k to get running...

Online I've seen the 383 Barracuda's going anywhere between low $teens to mid $30k...I don't mind turning a wrench to get little stuff done or replacing stuff if need be....maybe next year find something that would be a fun weekend car.

I've seen the odd decent priced 72 to 74 Barracuda with 318's,that look like they'd be nice drivers in the 40K range. A 70 Cuda though i don't think you'll get much of a car especially a big block version for 40K,it's probably gonna need at least quarters and floor pans at that price.

I'd sure want to put it on a hoist and look it over very well,as a shaker hood 440 for less then $40,000 sounds a bit suspicious.Plus the fact it's been listed for 2 months and hasn't sold, raises some red flags for me.Car does look good, but it makes me wonder how much is still steel and how much is bondo, lol. It's a 72 with a 70 front end, which makes me wonder if it was crashed at one point in time

Why when you click on those listings, the description doesn't come up?
There's actually some good prices for some of the cars listed if they are what they claim to be.

Yeh, I don't know what's up with that. It shows a brief description in the Thumbnail, but then nothing when you open them up.

I know the ones that I listed aren't original numbers matching cars as the different drivetrain components that don't match those model years. I think that's why the lower prices.

The numbers matching cars are a lot higher priced. Over $100k on them. I know one gent up this way that has a shell of a 70 Challenger and a parts car sitting in his yard and was asking $10k for both of them. I forget if he said he had a motor and trans for it. But I don't want to have to dump $30-$40k to make a car....not too many body shops in this area that do that type of work anymore. And if they do, you're pying the shot.

Same guy has a running 70 Barracuda Gran Coupe with the 383 and Hurt 4 speed. It's a number matching car and he said he'd sell it for the right price...but it would probably be too high for that model car & what he'd ask for it

I have a buddy that's into the old MOPAR rides. He's done a few rotisserie builds that came out great. The green Challenger was a beast. He built a 440 that made in the low 600hp. The white one is in its final assembly stage as i type this out lol. He also had a 67 Dart GT he did as his first rotisserie build. He's such a MOPAR fan that he named his dog CUDA lolScreenshot_20221007-010223_Facebook.jpgScreenshot_20221007-010804_Facebook.jpgScreenshot_20221007-010334_Facebook.jpgScreenshot_20221007-010605_Facebook.jpg

I'd be more than happy with a 383.
They were tire burners and as far as cruising goes were a real sweet spot between the 318s and the 440s.
Plus they were capable of pretty decent HP with a few power adders like long tubes and a cam...
If a 383 car is more affordable, I'd say go for it and save some $$ for gas...

The 383 was very underrated, when tuned correctly they ran really well.
Which is to be expected since other than the stroke and slightly smaller bore, the were basically identical to the 440 for most years.

The 383 was a torque monster. My cousin has a 69 super bee with a 383 that's basically bone stock and will lift the front tires off the ground

Not knocking the 383....I wouldn't mind having one. It would be fun with a 4 speed.
