Is there an easy way to distinguish which level of 8.4 Touchscreen Display radios are in the truck. I am shopping for a 2018 or 2019 Ram truck and know literally nothing about these systems.
I think I read somewhere Touch screen levels: UAA, UAM & UAV.
I am new to Ram trucks and need to gather as much knowledge ASAP.
Thanks in advance for all replies.

This is where i shine.

In 2013-2019 Classic RAM 1500s, the easiest way to tell on the 2013-2017 trucks is by the NAV button at the bottom dock and by HD Radio.

2018-2019 RAM 1500 Classics are the same way.

The 2013-2017 radio model numbers for the 8.4 inch displays were: RA3 and RA4

2018-2019: UAS and UAQ, made by Panasonic instead of Harman for the RA3 & RA4.

I see people post issues with these systems. Is one a better trouble free system over the other?
Panasonic instead of Harman?

I have a 2018 that came with the basic radio. I did try an upgrade and it was a plug and the play but radio I bought through here was defective, so saying you can buy radio if the truck you find otherwise has lower level but be sure you see radio working, and that it comes with at least donor truck VIN and/ or security code . UAS is without navigation, UAQ is with navigation. Good luck

The only issue i have is with the RA2 radio, as it’s the worst radio i’ve ever seen put into a vehicle. As for trouble, both Panasonic and Harman 8.4s are good in my opinion. The panasonic has a better screen and a faster CPU though, and in my opinion, a better UI.

I believe Panasonic only started in 2018 and only built the UAS and UAQ. These have Apple Car Play and Android Auto. There are other threads in here that provide a lot of good information, I would read through them. Good luck.

Thanks, as I am sure I will have many questions. I haven't even sat in a Ram truck for as long as I can remember.

Well once you’re in one i’m sure you’ll love it. Mine is a SLT even though it has pretty much everything aside from air sus and a sunroof, i like to call it my own personal Limited. The cloth seats may be stain magnets but holy crap they ride so good. Same goes for the rest of the truck, rides better than my Chrysler 300.

I added a 2018 UAQ with Carplay to my 2015 and I have to say I do love the NAV radio. Sure you can use the maps on your phone but I find the radio maps much better and it comes with 5 years of free travel link which I think is also great. If do any off roading you for sure need the UAQ since it has the trail recording feature so you "record" when you have been off road and the system will take you right back there. It was expensive but well worth it in my opinion to replace my RA2 with a 2018 8.4 UAQ.

The RA2 is crap either way. Worst radio from Chrysler. I’d rather have the RA1. Picture of my RA4 for OP below: 3f1eefa9af80093125d65ed9cd196dc2.jpg

Well, I forgot about this inquiry I made. Sorry... I did buy the 2019 Big Horn Classic which has a big screen. I had a strange issue this week, when I started the truck the radio blasted full volume and when I went to turn it down it was quite. Only 2 options full blast and quite. Went back to normal after sitting for a while. Strange!
From what I have seen Ram trucks are miles ahead of GM products regarding technology.
