How is everyone liking the 8 speed so far? I'm really hesitant on buying a new ram cause of the lack of shifter.. lol

so you can still run through the gears via the steering wheel?

Electronic Range Select (ERS) Operation – 8 Speed
Transmission
The Electronic Range Select (ERS) switches allow the
driver to limit the highest available gear when the
transmission is in DRIVE. For example, if you shift the
transmission into 3 (third gear), the transmission will not
shift above third gear (except to prevent engine overspeed),
but will shift down into second and first gears
normally.

You can switch between DRIVE and ERS mode at any
vehicle speed. When the shifter control is in the DRIVE
position, the transmission will operate automatically,
shifting between all available gears. Tapping the GEARswitch
(on the steering wheel) will activate ERS mode,
display the current gear in the instrument cluster, and
maintain that gear as the top available gear. Once in ERS
mode, tapping the GEAR- or GEAR+ switch will change
the top available gear.

I came from a 5sp 4.7 and I must say....it's been a month but if you are not gonna drive stick, my vote is for this dial shifter. I like it so far, and I almost didn't by the truck because it scared me.

none, why can't

these be blank
I love the the open space on the console not having the shifter, in fact it was a selling point over the giant console shifter in the F150. Course if they stuck with a column then it would be a different story.

I have the 8 speed in my truck, and it's brand new (just hit 100miles) idk if it's possibly bc of the tow package, or what, but does anyone think the truck shifts a tad but hard? Or shifts revving a little high? This could be 100% normal, it's my first truck and I'm coming from an 09 2dr JK wrangler....

All depends on your "go-foot". Mine is pretty darn smooth, sometimes so smooth it feels like a CVT. I'm also very light on the throttle 80% of the time, though.

I just hit 100 miles, so I find it hard to think there's some sort of tranny issue, leaning more towards me getting used to how a new vehicle shifts, but I was just curious.

Just around 2500kms now and the 8 speed is great. Very smooth, hardly feel a shift, kinda like how it down shifts when coming to a stop, you can feel and hear it (the exhaust that is) slowing you down. On the hwy punching it at 100 is amazing how quickly it drops gears and throws you back in your seat. Best auto trany I have ever had.

i don't mind the 8 speed at all, but i hate the dial. ridiculous in my mind. i was really worried about going to the 8 speed, but i actually think it was because of the dial.

i almost bought a 13 because i wanted the console shifter, but couldn't find one...i guess i will get used to the the dial, but so far the tranny is great.
