well put my 87mm tb from moe's in today straight forward took about 10 min but I have to vent about something i'm used to things being built heavyduty and dodge dropped the ball on this one holy fn wow self tapping screws into plastic to hold down the tb really I guess the extra 10cents would have killed them to put in some threaded brass inserts and use 4 machine thread screws ok rant over almost forgot thanks Matt excellent customer service looking forward to getting the catch can in soon

All Hemi trucks have a plastic intake manifold from 2003-2013...Dodge did go cheap on that part. Some metal inserts would definitely be nice.

I had to get a slightly thicker bolt to tighten one corner... Not happy with it myself.

BTW, is there anything that would help out threads in plastic?

not to my knowledge but I could be wrong in this situation all you can do is be gentle with it take them out slowly and when going back in make sure they started right and take them up easy

Could put a helicoil insert in there if you are removing it all the time.

Yeah but the bolts went into threaded metal am I understanding on the 2013 they are now metal going into plastic? One of you have pics of the holes it screws into on 2013?

Unfortunately I do not. My TB swapped with no problems, so I didn't bother modifying anything.

I didn't have any issue's just an observation of the crap craftsman ship that is out there now days yes smiley on the 13's the bolt/screw looks like a tapcon with heavy thread and it's metal it threads straight into plastic I feel the proper thing to do would have been to have brass or some sort of metal insert with machine threads in the plastic mani

Since that is the case, it would be pretty easy to do a helicoil for a fine or coarse thread U.S. series bolt. (or metric if you prefer but why?)

Measure the through hole on the throttle body, and find the largest U.S. bolt that will fit. Then drill/tap the manifold for that size helicoil. Use a vacuum as you drill to suck up the chips.

The hardest part would be making sure the holes are perpendicular to the TB flange.

I personally wouldn't do this until there was an issue with the bolt stripping or TB not sealing, but it wouldn't be that difficult.

Here's a scary one...when I took off my air tube and filter box for the first time after a few hundred miles(maybe 1000?) I had driven, a couple of the TB screws were finger loose...makes you wonder. I checked every bolt and screw within reach after that

There shouldnt be any issue with these unless you guys are cranking the **** out of them. LOTS of manufacturers use plastic intake manifolds with coarse screws.
