89 d100 running rough

I just installed headers on my 89 d100 now it runs horrible it has no power what so ever it back fires sometimes it ran perfect before the headers the onlything I can think of is I didn't install the o2 sensers and it has a exhaust leak at the reducer.

you need the o2 sensor for the engine to run properly. without it it will run like crap as you have discovered. the computer will by default run rich without an o2 sensor signal which will make you loose power.

So if I get the reducers with the o2 sensors will that be good and could I just extend the wires on my o2 sensors to reach are is there a special o2 for the headers. And thanks for the help

do you have a y-pipe or x pipe or is it straight duals? i would avoid extending the wires if possible. it can effect the readings a bit. no special o2 sensor needed for headers but dodge trucks do like NTK brand o2 sensors. some people tend to have issues with some of the other brands sometimes.

IDK about 1G pickups, but there might be an upstream and downstream sensor, like on later models. An upstream sensor should be somewhere between the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter..again, on later models, there is one for each cylinder bank-maybe the same on 1G V-8s. Downstream sensors are after the catalytic converter.

I believe I saw in your other post you have stock exhaust manifolds. Start looking on them down to the catalytic converter for either something with wires or see if there's been some part of the exhaust replaced. Sometimes people would screw in a pipe plug when eliminating sensors.

The o2 sensor was on the side of the stock manifold but the o2 sensor connector is short and will only reach the top of the headers I need it to run to the reducers I just ordered that have the o2 ****. I'm running straight duels it to cherry bombs but had to run my drivers side pipe to the passenger side because the fuel tank and fuel lines.

ok ya i have seen those types of manifold with the sensor in them. i guess if you got to extend the wires there is not much you can do about it. you could try pulling the wire and connector for it out of the harness a bit. if you are buying a new o2 sensor i am pretty sure the NTK ones come with a decent length of wire with their sensor compared to stock.

Why would they would they delete the o2 sensor spot?

they didn't delete it. they moved it. you can't get a good reading if you are only taking readings off one side which is why they eventually moved it to the y-pipe on all the newer trucks.

I still can't figure it out can't find any holes. The only thing I see is a small pipe going from the cat all the way up to the top of the engine. I still have no idea what that is

Does anyone know about spark plug non foulers in o2 sensor holes I see it works on a lot of cars and truck running bad.
