While placing an order for spark plugs last week from rockauto.com, I was browsing their catalog and noticed they sell something called a “shift improvement kit” for the eight-speed transmission which has so many problems with shuddering and rough shifting.

The kit appears to be a bunch of replacement parts for the valve body, and what’s unique about it is that there are O-ring seals on the pistons.

Has anyone purchased and installed these parts, and if you previously had a transmission which exhibited the classic problem of shuddering on upshift, was this a fix?

Finally, is this something that can be accomplished by a driveway mechanic without removing the transmission?

I see no reason why a decent DIY guy couldn't do this.

Typical pan drop is gonna need 6qt for refill, I'd suspect you'll lose at least another quart dropping the VB. If you go with the Mopar fluid, it adds up quick at $20 a pop.

I looked at the Sonnax kit a few years ago,and thought about it,but that's as far as i ever got, lol. You could go onto High Performance Rams and Tuned Rams on facebook and see if anybody on those 2 facebook pages has tried the Zip Kit out.You could also try asking on a few of the high performance Challenger/Charger facebook pages,as there's a few guys putting upwards of 800hp through the HP70 on the car pages, and keeping the stock transmission together
