In the morning or night the A/C is consistently cold. Enough to make you uncomfortable. However, once the sun hits the dash and the outside temp is 75 degrees or higher, the air becomes Luke Warm at best. The A/C was recently checked as a part of a service and emptied/recharged. There are no leaks, the system components seem to be functioning normally, it only happens when it is hot outside. I replaced the blend door actuator under the glove box as it was creaking but the problem remains. With summer here again I cannot go through an Alabama summer with no A/C nor can I afford endless diagnostics from a car shop. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

I dont know why they would do a leak test if it were working. Sounds like the blend door is going bad.

Does it warm up all the time or primarily when stopped/moving real slow? Check that your condenser coil and radiator are clean, even between them. Also possible the fan clutch isn't engaging soon enough.
Does the air warm up even if the AC is set to recirculation mode?
I've noticed the AC in my '15 isn't as super cold like some of my other vehicles, but even in 80°F-90°F weather the truck stays cold. It's almost like the AC will get colder as it gets warmer outside. It probably has to do with the design of the refrigeration system and the variable compressor the 1500s use.

Brian: I had a 2005 Z71 that did the same thing. There were 2 blend doors in it. Not sure if your truck has 2 but something to consider??

My 2012 Outdoorsman is having the exact same issue! What and where is the blend door?
