I can see a 2x2 reg cab using non ethenol gas under ideal conditions and driving very conservatively hitting 24 mpg.

I just drove to Biloxi from San Antonio. Of course when I got to Biloxi it was all city driving but in the way there I made sure to track it and it was pretty much the same. 20-21 at best. 80mph no cruise. 2017 4X2 crew cab. 3.21 gears. Best I’ve got was from San Antonio to Arlington with a great tailwind and I saw 24 mpg. Never seen anything higher than that though.

I routinely can get 23.5-24mpg.
I run good gas. And I’m in flat land.
Honestly, if I drive a tad under 65 it would be better but I’ve never tried.
Truck was 19.6mpg stock. Hardware store cheaply homemade
Cai with flat k/n , mbrp exhaust, and trifold tonneau made the biggest gains for mpg. The shadetree Cai being the most believe it or not.
Oh yea. I added a pulsar too. Gained a hair there.
17” wheels help. The factory tires seem to be best on gas because they suck at everything else.

I have a 2012 1500 bighorn with the 5.7 v8 4x2. Coming home from Cape may along rte 55 I got 23.7mpg in cruise control per the on board computer. Was traveling approx 62-63 mph in the right lane for about 1hr or so. 20" wheels and truck is bone stock. Had rear window and driver window open. So 24 mpg under the right conditions is possible.
