of course it doesnt all the time but I wonder what the time frame in time or miles the pcm uses to calculate? avg of last 100 miles? 500 miles? there has to be some timeframe for the avg

and the pic you post i know is obviously just for that "trip B" i am talking about the "fuel economy" screen I have in my express I assume you also have same

Best I ever did was 23.4 coming back home to southern Indiana from Gatlinburg (Probably 6-7 hours one way) Got 22.6 on the way down. Only mod is superchip and I was running the 93 tune at the time with MDS off, both ways. Mine is a 2014, quad cab, hemi, 8 speed, 4x4 with 3.21s had cruise set at 70 most of the time.

My normal commute to work, I hover between 19-20 mpg, never see an interstate on normal commute. Average 45-50 mph.

I get no more than 12.5mpg city driving. That's to and from work. No real traffic. Just intersections... It's really bad.

My 2014 Hemi 8-spd 3.92 with 132K on her averages around 20. On highway trips I can get up to 24 no problem going 70mph. Not too shabby..........

Both fuel economy and trip a and trip b uses the last 200 mile range of averaging the mpg.

It maybe 300, but it's well documented it avg the last xyz miles. And not the full mileage displayed

An easier way to see this is the range, as your driving you will see every few minutes it recalculates your total range. Doing so so often gives you the most accurate (how much further can i go).

You all are lying about 24+mpg at realistic speeds with a 5.7 and in over here with my 5.7 special edition getting these numbers. Running 0w0 synthetic for extreme fuel economy.

Where is it "well documented", I haven't been able to find it.

It's a truck, a big truck, with a big displacement v8. 95% of owners didn't buy them for fuel economy. I'm under the impression that my truck gets great gas milage for what it is. I sit high, have great visibility and I'm really comfortable and safe in my truck. If I want to save on fuel I would have bought a rice burner and would be sitting on the pavement looking up at all the big trucks and worrying about being run over.

Ummmm read every mpg thread and everyone will tell you it avg the last 2-300 on your evic.

It's not a surprise we have had these mpg threads since 2013.

So...it's "documented" because everyone says it?

I advise you to read all the other mpg threads, and understand the conclusion that everyone has come to since the introduction of the 8spd in the hemi powered 1500.

You guys are acting like this doesnt make sense, prove it to yourself by driving and reseting the last 200 miles, its ez.

It knows pressure, time the injector is commanded open, and the theoretical flow of the injector. It keeps track of all the data and calculates how many gallons are consumed.

No, I don't believe it makes sense. And you're still claiming that just because "every mpg thread here" says it, then it's a fact. As much knowledge as there is on this board, most people are willing to admit they don't know everything. I'm not saying you're wrong or right, I'm saying that it being the majority opinion here doesn't make it "well documented".

You saying that to reset and drive 200 miles makes no sense. Of course it's going to tell me the mileage for the last 200 miles when that's what I've driven since the last reset, so that proves nothing.

That's what I got on my last trip. About 2 hours of interstate driving cruise set at 75mph. However my normal average is 16.5mpg. My commute is about 10 miles of highway at 70mph and roughly 7 miles of in town at 45mph with red lights. And I drive pretty aggressive. Truck is a 17 4x4 crewcab 5.7 with 5.7.
