Preface to say that I have a 2016 diesel with the "Push to start" system, and an automatic transmission.
The other day I needed to roll my truck forward about 2'. And, since it was very cold out, I really didn't want to start the engine and immediately shut it down.
There has to be a way to move the automatic shift lever out of park without starting the engine.
Anyone know the answer? Thanks

You should be able to push once or twice without your foot on the break to put it accessory mode then put it in neutral.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Nope... In accessory position, pushing the brake doesn't unlock the shifter. Doing so in run position, initiates the starting process.
I've looked everywhere in the book, and don't find a thing about it. One would think it would be necessary for towing and such.

Put it in run then push the brake and shift? Do not push brake when toggling to run.

I know on my 8 speed there's a tab like thing you pull by the e brake release you pull to get manual override into neutral. It's hidden pretty much and behind a little panel if I recall. But this is with the rotary shifter

Toggling it to "Run" only initiates the starting process if your foot is on the brake.

Even toggling to "run" position first, I have to push the brake to release shifter. The start process begins...

Looked really close, can't see anything as described.

I believe only the 8 speeds in the 1500's have the release pully.

I just got in my truck. Toggled in to run with push button, put my foot on the brake and moved it to Neutral without starting the truck.

Yepper, I'm old and losing it! That works, I guess I had the sequence wrong.

Thank you all.
