ABN Coolant Funnel Kit - Radiator Spill Free Funnel

Anyone ever use one of these?
I tried this and the coolant got hot an overflowed out of the funnel and went all over the floor. What could I have been doing wrong?

Its for filling your cooling system, I think you're suppose to remove it before starting engine and coolant getting hot.

I'm too old for that kind of grief anymore.... Things got too complicated under the hood for me years ago. Dealer does a fine job on the maintenance for me....!
