So I have found my issue.

I thought the dealer had replaced the driveshaft as that’s what the service guys first response was... they didn’t replace anything.

The issue was happening with my stock wheels again but at higher speeds 70-80 instead of starting at 60mph.

I went back to the dealer AGAIN and this time the Mechanic came with me for a ride and said immediately when we hit 70mph. “Yep 100% the driveshaft.” He said the only other Ram 1500 with this problem was an ecodiesel just like mine. He thinks it may be due to the increased low end torque from the diesel. Still, not good for us ecodiesel guys because it’s the same exact same driveshaft is being used to replace it which means it could happen again. It probably should be a recall not a TSB. He said it’s not the driveshaft itself but the U joint at the end starts falling apart and since it’s one piece they have to order the entire driveshaft. Repair time is 1 hour.

I’m unsure as to why they initially said it was “definitely the driveshaft” then didn’t go ahead and replace it. When I picked up my truck they said it’s all set and I didn’t ask questions I just took my truck. When I called back they informed me that they literally did nothing with my truck but put stock wheels on it and drove it around town and never took it on the highway (palm to forehead)... I was a bit ticked off but at least I have an answer now so I’m satisfied with some light st the end of this long dark tunnel.

So... I have apologies in place for Fuel and for Town Fair Tire. Sorry but it was an issue with my truck!! I don’t have the heart to go back to Town Fair for tires after what I put them through!!

The driveshaft was ordered right in front of me and will be here in 5 Days.

I’m getting shoulder surgery on Wednesday so gonna have to send the wife to the dealer to get it fixed.

Will update once the new driveshaft is in!

Those wheels are nice but keep in mind they do have the stock offset of +19mm just like any other factory 20x9 so your 35x12.50 may rub on the upper control arm (some tires do some don't), worse case you can always add a small spacer to push the wheel outward or get a narrower tire.

pics of the wheels and size info in this thread

Thank you,
I have done so much research on wheels I knew the offset was an issue prior to ordering and I actually have 4 1/4” rough country spacers in my Garage as the original wheels I was going to order were 19mm as well.

I was gonna sell them, but now I’m gonna need them again!

Another weird thing is that thinking back at when I first bought my truck whenever I went over 85mph the back would vibrate. Nowhere near what it’s doing now, but I always just though it was a big truck and unstable at high speeds.

It’s all starting to make sense now and I’m venturing to guess my truck has had a bad drive shaft since I bought it, it’s just progressively gotten much worse over time.

Just glad you got it figured out. I'm sure they wouldn't mind having the business back. Sounds like they went above and beyond. Not to many shops like that around.

I completely agree. I do have the Mopar wheels ordered, so when they come in I’m going to go back for my tires and explain to them what happened. I feel real bad for everything I put them through as it wasn’t their fault. The least they deserve is my business back after everything they did.

Wheels come matte but look WAY better glossy like they were on the car show Ram that debuted them. Gonna get them powder coated when they come in..

My truck is granite metallic. Should I go gloss black or like a dark gray gunmetal gloss? I’m torn but want the wheels to look good.

Update: Rear driveshaft was replaced did not change the rear shaking.

They have now ordered the front driveshaft... they said the front still apparently rotates even in 2wd and there’s a joint that could be unbalanced causing vibration in the rear.

This is getting ridiculous not feeling very hopeful at this point.. at least it’s all under warranty but no truck for another week sucks.

Update: It’s been 40 days and my truck still isn’t fixed. FCA is working with the dealer to get me into a brand new truck. I’m currently looking at a loaded 2018 1500 5.7 crew cab Night edition in white. Let’s see how the numbers fall and what FCA is will to do to facilitate this.. will keep everyone posted.

Care to say how much the 4 of them ran you?

I found the best price I could on them I think they were around $420 a wheel. Gonna throw them on the next truck I end up getting.

Thanks for the support!

Maybe you can get them to install your wheels and tires as part of the deal also.

How’s the shoulder?

I agree with him. Try to find a different offset to forgo the wheel spacers. I have 20x9 0mm offset which is a 5” backspacing with 35x12.50r20 NTG. My bills are set at 2.8” with no rubbing. Someone else will be able to chime in, but I believe 35” tires will only work with 2.8” on a non-lifted truck.

Do the fuels come with hub centric rings?

I ordered some custom aluminum hub centric rings 110.3 to 77.8 just to be safe when the new wheels come in

I have the same wheels and 33” nitto terra grappler g2 on em. Had the same issue with vibrations ...I had them road forced balanced on the top machine and got em to zero out after replacing two tires ..... still a bit of a shimmy but I’ve learned to look past it. I chalk it up to these tires being much more aggressive and much wider than stock... as well as my -18mm offset. It feels much more of the road than the oem setup ... I’m a bit neurotic but love the look and I think a lot of it is in my head . Good luck
