Ac condenser fan

I have a 2004 ram 5.7. Is the AC condenser fan supposed to be running if the ac isnt on? I noticed today while I had defrost on, my condenser fan was on. The AC button was not on. I just replaced the fan motor 6 months ago.I thought it was only supposed to be on with the ac button pushed on.

Your AC will cycle when running the defrost. It's normal operation. I believe it helps keep moisture out.

It comes on with defrost to remove humidity.a/c compressor will also engage on/off.
