Oh yeah, put some heavier duty tires, like 8 ply and you will notice a world of difference. I had 10 ply KO2s on my last truck and it really stabilized the whole rig.
Yep that’s in my future as well.

I agree that everyone who is going to tow a trailer should get some training as to what’s involved with doing so... and tested !

I have done a few searches on RV driver training, found a few on driving a motor home but nothing on towing an RV trailer. no plans on pulling an RV but if I were to do so would like to take a little training for it.

Agreed. The only cargo going in the truck going forward is my wife and I and two little dogs. All else will go in the trailer and I might even ship my golf clubs and bikes. Also thanks to all for not slamming me for misspelling advice.
That’s a joke
All of the responses are spot on. My biggest issue is loading the trailer, because the fresh water tank and all storage space is in the front. I've even added water to the black tank to lighten up the front a little. Visiting the scales to get a good picture of how much weight is on the axles is a good (great) idea. I'm considering putting a platform on the back to balance the load out a little and provide usable storage space. I know I have to watch tongue weight especially.

Jim M- Not a bad idea to look at where the weight is in the trailer, just remember you still need to have at least 10-15% of the weight on the tongue, or you will get constant sway.

Also the cheap china bomb tires they install on most RV's are only rated to towed at 60mph. Lucky for me that usually all the faster I go. I still upgraded my tires though.

65 is/was the standard for cheap trailer tires but even most of them are now rated to 75 or 83. Cheap trailer king tires in the size for my trailer are rated 75. I have carlisle 83 mph rated tires on mine. I don't run anywhere near that speed though.

Me too... being around flat beds all my life (dads const biz and farm life) I thought you could just load it up. Yea, so it sags a little in the bed, just drive slow right... ha ha ha I too learned alot on this board. Thanks to all for sharing.

Me also, had three 4x4 1/2 tons used for beach and never cared about payload or towing capacities. Got interested in truck campers and learned about payload real quick. Hence 3/4 ton purchase.
