Hey guys! Just bought a used 2011 1500 4.7L 4x4 and love it. I just installed an AFE stage 1 intake (just the top of the air box and filter were changed) and have mixed feelings about it. I was wondering if anyone on here has changed out their stock resonator and piping and mated it to a stage 1 AFE Intake? I was thinking maybe an Airaid u build it kit might work. Any experiences out there?

So I finally got the time to do some custom work and here she is without the resonator hat and accordion piping.

I was about to buy the UBI kit but saw someone on another forum do it like this from parts from Home Depot (I went to Lowes). I was also contemplating on buying the MIT tube for the 4.7 but it was too expensive.

Sound is amazing. Growl is more aggressive but it definitely shakes up my dash at WOT. Maybe it will get better as the ECU learns and compensates for the increased air volume and velocity.

Once again... Any experience out there? All in all it cost me under $25 for the custom piping.

Do you notice any difference in MPG or power?

I did. Throttle response got quicker and accelerates much faster with the open passage (no resonator) to the filter element. My MPG has read in the 17's since I did it and I do 50/50 city and highway. Before I did this, I would go as low as 14 MPG.
