2012 rcsb 5.7, brother has a bad lifter again, and wants to build the engine. nothing crazy but shooting for 425-450 rwhp. The plan is Scoggin-Dickey stage 3 cam, mds delete, e85/93, Kooks LT, stock stroke, may have to bore the block not sure as its still in the truck and will let machine shop decide on that. Do plan on bumping compression up to 11.5. I know there may be piston/valve clearance issues, we will cross that bridge when we get there. and a 2800-3200 stall, but im stuck on a few things...
1) Intake-would an aftermarket be better or the tried and true 6.4? Its going to be a street/strip truck, mostly street with the occasional rip.
2)Heads-I understand that these eagle heads are really good. Is there really any need for porting on a 5.7? maybe dimpling the intake runners and polishing the exhaust?
3) Pistons-is there anything I need to consider or look for on new pistons? valve reliefs? ring lands? No plans on boost and have told him that if he ever does want to do that, he will have to build a different engine. He has mentioned nitrous...I've advised against that because it will need to have a whole other tune.
4) e85/93-With a flex fuel sensor I think we can do this but I'm not sure. I know we will have to do upgraded fuel system, and thats not a big deal either.
Am I missing anything? Been a few years since ive built an engine, last one was an LT1 out of my 95 camaro about 10-12 years ago...Thanks for any and all help and any questions.
