I bought an aftermarket camera/tailgate handle/harness combo on eBay and had it installed at a local electronics shop. The camera element in it was DOA but the shop was cool enough to swap it with another working element so I don't even know what's in it now, unfortunately.
Its guide lines are way too small for a big lifted truck and I can't see a wide enough view to ensure clearance of cars in adjacent spaces when backing into a parking spot. It really makes the screen appear as if I have plenty of room when I could have none at all. I can get used to it, but it's misleading in a dangerous way to anyone else driving.
Can anyone recommend a camera element I can swap in that has a very wide view/lens? I'd like to see my hitch and both corners of my bumper, if not wider.
Do I need a "CMOS camera"?
I don't know much about these backup cameras, but I know photography and a wider angle lens would give the effect I'm looking for. ...though wider spaced or adjustable guide lines would be very desirable, as well.
