Adding Note to this post so I can find it later if needed (Post 5 is out of space) ...

I replaced the original 56038978AI back up camera on the 2015 Ram to the newer 68644913AA several weeks ago. Brand new from the dealer in San Antonio. Works fine except the Grid Lines have been missing since the camera swap. The old cam had no problem at all and the Grid lines worked. Just decided to get the newer cam since I already have the newer Panasonic radio. The old cam worked perfect just was a little darker than the new one.
I have checked the radio settings and all in AlfaOBD and just doesn't make sense really.

Anyone had this problem at all with this kind of swap and not getting the Grid Lines back?

Only option I can think of is to disable and then reenable the camera settings in AlfaOBD to see if that does anything.
My S/W version is up to date and no new updates available. Might, if I get bored, swap the old cam back to make sure it still has the Guide Lines.

Thanks for any and all help if available.

I think what you have planned is a good course of action. Was the image any sharper with the new camera?

The camera was under 50 bucks I believe. It doesn't make a whole lot of difference to be honest. Does seem a little brighter and maybe a bit sharper. Still an analog Cam so not gonna be as good as digital.

Will get around to troubleshooting with what I have planned soon. Will post up results if all goes well.

I have the original factory unit in my 2014 with the 8.4 radio, I don't have the grid lines on, but I am sure they are there if I turn them on. I would have to read the book as I forget what I did ; should be in the radio setting I am thinking.

Did you ever fix the gridline issue with the newer 68644913AA camera?

Is your point the “Last seen” timestamp or are you suggesting a DM? Neither answers the question of how compatible the new cameras are with the older 8.4 equipped trucks.
He replaced the camera in a '16 with a newer one, but he also has the newer radio installed, so not the same situation..

Not the response I would have chosen when asking a general question to a quite old reply.

It appeared that you were trying to elicit a response from a member who hasn't been seen in nearly 6 months. I thought it might be helpful to know that detail.

If you had other intentions with your question, perhaps you might choose to be more direct. We can't read your mind.

Regardless of how long someone has been offline, a reply to their thread may send them an email or notification so they can answer, or someone else with a similar experience may reply. That’s the entire point of forums. Not posting your question is asinine.

This forum is different though I guess. People with no experience reply and talk down questions.

Anyway, knowing if the new gen cameras are compatible with the 4th gen’s Panasonic UAQ (which OP has) or older Harman radios would be nice info to have. Hopefully someone has tried it.

Thanks for the information.

I've seen at least 2 occasions where someone absent that long has returned, but many more have not. Good luck with your issue.

Thanks. I’m one of those people who takes 6+ month long absences then gets pulled back with an email notification.

If cleaning and reseating the connections on my camera doesn’t resolve the blank/green/1985 VHS camera feed, I may just order the new camera and report back. Didn’t realize it’s only $50.

Do you see the option for grid lines in the Uconnect radio?

AlaOBD has an option to enable either static or dynamic grid lines.
I don't know if this will correct your problem.

@Mpgrimm2 is very knowledgeable about camera display features.
I captured the following post for reference.

I have a 2014 OEM factory camera and it has worked on the RA3/RA4s, UAS/UAQs, and a 5th Gen 12.1" UAX from a 2021 without issue. THere is a setting for gridlines in the radio BUT I think the gridlines are actually controlled by a signal wire too. I'd compare your old camera to the new to check for pin changes and/or inspect the pins/harness for damage as well.
