Aftermarket brake controller

2014 ram 1500 sport

Can I add an aftermarket controller rather than the integrated? I only need it for car hauler 2-3 times a year and I tend to get new vehicles every year or so. Is there a controller and harness I can use or do I have to instal oem? I have the tow package so I have the plugs.

I also have a 2012 Ram and went with the Tekonsha. Since my Express didn't have an EVIC, I decided on going with the Tekonsha, but mounted it in the dash. I bought trailer brake bezel from my dealership. This way, if I trade the truck and want to take the Tekonsha, I can pop the original bezel spacer back in. I did have to do a little fabricating for the mounts, but it is solidly installed.

This TBC works great and does everything the Mopar does except it isn't in the EVIC.
