I've thought about putting one on mine ever since it got ransacked in my own drive and some stuff was stolen. Can I get a system that is just an alarm and no remote start since I already have factory remote start?

Yes, Viper sells just the alarm portion of the system and no remote start included.

Yes it is and awesome! Haha.
I just reprogrammed it. Now it takes 2 presses to activate. I guess I just overlooked that setting when I was programming it.

I would get one with remote start. It will work much further away than the stock remote start and there is no sense in carrying 2 remotes...

Sweet. My back up is 1 way soft key stick remote that's hidden around the undercarriage. Would be a good assurance to have that 2 press option.
Check the manual too when i get home.

Is it a Viper 5701? All the remote starts I have had in the past you can set it up like for 2 presses but this one I am apparently not able to do.

Edit: Never mind, I'm an idiot, it's in the manual. Going to reprogram now!

why do you hate the factory remote start. Mine works well

Mostly because its not 2 way and the range sucks. Also the signal is weak or something because sometimes it doesn't start...then its not 2 way so I don't know if it started and walk out into the cold only to find it didn't....

With my viper it has a screen, I knew if and when my truck started, if someone was messing with it, and even the temperature inside the cab. Plus he range was amazing, I could start it in the back of my hanger which fits 6 C-130's inside of it(it was big) also in the backk of wal-mart, etc....

My husband has a remote start on his truck with a cold start on it. I had never heard of that till I met him. It would start when the temperature outside hit a certain degree, whatever he had programmed it to. There was a couple times it started in the middle of the night. That was freaky till I got used to it LOL
