Has anyone managed to find an after market head unit, that will use the factory installed Sirius/XM antenna.

Guys are crutchfield said it was a no no, something about proprietary connection, but I know they aren't always right.

I haven't looked at it but I am guessing you can find a connection point to the antenna where you can use a Fakra gender changing adapter to connect to an aftermarket Sirius tuner.

You need the sxv300 to use Siriusxm. From there you can find an antenna adapter to go from the truck's antenna to the sxv300. Another way that works is to remove the plastic clip on the truck's Siriusxm antenna wiring. This allows it to attach to the sxv300. Then with a couple of zip ties and some electrical tape secure the antenna connection.

Something like https://www.discountcarstereo.com/xmm-smb.html or do what 1500ram12 said and just pop off the factory connector, that's what I did in my mazdaspeed 3.

All sirius/xm radios use the same connector, oems just add plastic locking clips but the actual connector inside is the same.

The only limitation is that the factory connector carries GPS and SXM. So when you go aftermarket you can either use it with an adapter for GPS or SXM and then install an after market antenna for the other. If you care about both and being as clean looking as possible then I would suggest using the factory for SXM and then getting a good aftermarket GPS antenna under the dash. If you position GPS right under the plastic dash without any metal in the way it will work down there while SXM, in my experience, will not and needs to be outside the vehicle for good reception.

For adapters you can always get the right connections you need from eBay or I think iDatalink has the right adapter for the factory to an aftermarket SXM tuner. In my truck I used the stock antenna for GPS and don't care for SXM so I got me one of these from China to adapt it to my Alpine's GPS connector.
