Hey Guys,

So we finally have a few days above 70 deg F (20+ C) and I flicked on the AC.

However, was severely disappointed with the cold quality. I don't remember it being warm air last summer. I think its colder on COLD, then with the AC on!

So whats that mean? Truck only has 14000 km's. Recirc motor? A flap in behind the dash? It gets cold enough to give you a HINT of AC, but it seems more on the pass side than the driver side.

Anything to do with the buzzing / motorized sounds I hear under the dash?

I wouldnt think id need refridgerant, like I said, it gives you a tease of cold it seems from the pass vents, but even that is very minor / warm-ish.

Any input appreciated.

A reflash could help the solenoids and whatnot maybe? Id hate to keep flashing the truck. I could return to stock tune and take to dealership (least desired option).

Thanks,

I would take it to an independant shop that specialises in AC. You could very well be missing a bit of refrigerant. Even 100 grams missing is enough to cause poor preformance and ive seen it happen on cars newer than yours. (Mostly fords and volks lol)
If its just missing gas they will be able to charge it for you and if its something coverd under warrenty they will be able to tell you to go to dealer.
Can you see if the compressor is engaging when you run ac with the truck running?

Ill check once home from work.

I can hear the truck wanna turn it all on from inside the cab, Im inclined to think its turning on.

EDIT:
Posted an another site, and a guy from a dealership said bring I in they don't care since its not engine related.

Doubt it's refrigerant related and more to do with the clicking in the dash you're hearing. One of the motorized door's for the cold air gears is stripped, skipping teeth trying, but ultimately not opening. Real common problem on the 4th Gen especially the early years.

there is no reason for refrigerant to leak out of the system if the system hasn't been tampered with in any way. take it to the dealer.

yEAH, REFRIDGERANT WAS MY Last guess.

Im thinking its a door behind the dash like TylerB said. I can hear the "grinding".

Does anyone know if they have to remove my entire dash for that? Id ABSOLUTELY hate for them to scratch it up, and then it starts rattling / squeeking.

I hate dealers touching my truck in general, and now thinking they have to rip my entire dash apart has me cringing big time!!

After some digging, im hoping its setup a lot like the 3rd gens. Most flasp / doors seem to be under the glove box, so hopefully full dash removal not needed. Almost makes me wanna look myself instead of the dealer....
