Ok, I am sure this is on the site, but I’ve scrolled through 100’s of posts, and spent numerous hours of research without finding complete answers to several questions. I have a 2015 Ram ecodiesel with the dreaded c2200 code (ABS module is toast). Ordered a rebuilt ABS module. I need to change the VIN on the replacement module. Buying AlphaOBD. Enough of my whining, here are the questions:
1. I know I need to do a backup in case I screw up. Can I do a complete backup just in case I do mess up, and then reload the original configuration?I have seen posts on body control module logs, but is there a way to do a backup that restores everything to square 1 without reading the logs to try to figure out what I messed up? All I see is “review log changes in the log”.
2. Windows or android? I would have to purchase an android tablet, already have a PC. Saw several posts that say android is better.
3. Is there a step by step in reprogramming an ABS module? Watched the YouTube videos, but much of it says “follow the prompts “. I can do that, but I am an ex engineering technical writer, and if there is a step by step link out there, it would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry post is so long, it’s the engineer mindset of mine to “overprepare”. Thanks all!
