Hello all. New 2023 2500 6.4 with the Alt Trailer height suspension. Is there a trick in setting up a RV trailer hitch? Seems like after I do my measurements then drop the trailers, add the weight distribution bars the truck self adjusts---sorry for the banter but this one confuses me

You need to setup your WDH with the suspension set to the mode you're going to tow in. I tow at normal ride height, so I setup my WDH on both my 18 and 22 2500's at that setting. Both have air suspension. Even though the rear will try to stay the same height with and w/o a load, you still need to measure front and rear differences and adjust accordingly.

Alt Trlr Height will only work with a load on the hitch. I hook up my WDH which leaves my trailer tongue approx 3/4" above level. Then I use Alt Trlr Height which drops the hitch height 1 1/4".

That is not correct for the OP's 2500. Alt Trailer Height drops the rear by about an inch, loaded or not, in a 2500. You are thinking of the 3500's.

Yes, I have a 3500. Would think a 2500 would be the same if we are talking rear bags for auto leveling. If talking air suspension I have no knowledge.

Pretty sure he's talking about factory air, since he's discussing the Alt Rider Height function. A 2500 with factory air has no coil or leaf springs. So Alt Ride Height and Bed Lowering both work on those with or w/o a load.

3500's that have factory air suspension also have leaf springs that don't allow the height adjustment w/o a load.
