Hello, I am new to the 2500 truck world,
I am trying to figure out what I need or if what I presently have can be used before I take it all apart and have nothing usable.
So, I just bought a new to me 2024 Ram 2500 4wd cc sb with factory height settings, the height of the hitch tube at the top to level ground is 25.75". my trailer from the ground to the bottom of the coupler is +/- 19" but is 21" to the top of the coupler. The present hitch head ( Draw-Tite) has a 9" drop drawbar. It was used on a 1500 Ram 2wd. This tells me that the hitch head needs to be at 19" putting the 2 5/16" ball at 21" at the top which would be placing the trailer level. So, my question is, if I drop the head down to the last two holes will this work as it will put the ball at 23" +/- at the top. The travel trailer is 32ft., I will be using the torsion bars although I may not really need them as well as the 2 friction sway bars. The total weight of the trailer at this point is close to 6600.00lb. That should make the tongue weight at 660.00. My concern is abnormal tire wear or increased sway. My other question is, what is the torque setting for the 3/4" bolts at the head? And can I reuse the ones on the hitch head now? The head is about 10+ years old and has plenty of miles and bumps on it. In the event that the drawbar (9") isn't enough in drop what length would I need and will that amplify the torque on the hitch of the truck and make it less safe with bumps and Porpoising of the truck and trailer as it's driven? Thank you for your assistance. Gene

A lot of writing for a 2500 towing 6600 pounds, you could probably get close to that with a Prius, well joking but your ok.

Plan on setting up the WDH, you might be able skirt around on short trips without them and probably if there's a Cummins under the hood. With a 28'/ 8K ba trailer in tow behind a 3500 Cummins with an 8' bed you can feel the difference when a WDH is used or not.
Most trailer sway comes from poor weight distribution in the trailer both forwards/backwards along with side to side.
As for your 3/4" bolts torque, it depends on the grade of the bolt, a grade 5 you can go upwards of 300 ft/lbs but I'd try to find the manufacturer of the hitch spec.
