I have a 2012 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi and need to know the number of the alternator fuse. It is listed as F18, but I only have J's and M's in my fuse box.

I can’t help answer your question, it took me 3 times looking for my windshield wiper fuse, had to be there but I sure wasn’t seeing.
It was a bigger fuse off to the side not with the others with “f” numbers.
You might get a faster response if you repost in the 4th Gen- audio & Electronics section, lots of knowledgeable members on this forum that have helped me many times.

Look on the positive battery terminal, you should see several large value fuses.

Trace the large positive lead on the alternator back the the positive battery terminal and that should help you identify the correct fuse.

Alternatively, if you test DC volts with a multimeter on the large wire connections at the positive lead, that will verify the fuses or identify an open fuse.

And, welcome to Ram Forum.

Is there a fuse block off of the positive cable/post for alternator? Wat I was thinking, skerry. IIRC one for Alternator one for Power Steering rack, if he has EPS rack and not power steering pump.

What your alternator fuse will look like: You will have to look up the specific one for your truck.

Battery terminal fuses1.jpg

The battery is to the left of where the picture was taken with the front of the truck being above.

The left side in the picture is the battery bracket attached to the positive battery terminal.

In view, the upper fuse value is 120A and the lower 180A. The large wire lug terminals to the right would be a good location to test if the fuses are functional or open.

This picture is from my '21 Warlock, yours may look a bit different.
