So, I am starting a new job soon. And with a new job that will require a lot of road and seat time comes changes in vehicles or to an existing vehicle. The latter will be my choice. After spending a huge amount of time making my 2016 RAM 1500 Tradesman into a somewhat overland style truck it now comes a time to go back to a more practical and more comfortable changeover. Im going from 35/12.5-17 Gladiator tires to a 285/65-17 Falken Wildpeak A/T tire and keep the same wheels, pulling the 2.5" front level kit out and I still have my 2" rear drop springs (in red of course!) so she will sit level, and take all the big front lights and LED pod lights and bar off. Thats about it! I have a couple of pics attached. One is where it is now, and the other is where its going back to but with no chrome and different tires. She should get better mileage, better ride, easier to get in and out of for the wife (and my old broke down body too!) And frankly, I think the truck looked pretty dang good lowered some! I will still have a 4x4 with A/T tires for those times I need it. Suggestions from anyone? I always like suggestions, good or bad! Thats what forums are all about!!!!!!

Lot of offroad and seat time with a lowered truck on smaller tires might not be the best choice. I think she’s begging for upgraded shocks all around, one that can tackle the job, you can level the truck with Fox 2.0 front struts and rear shocks, sure more expensive than your typical 5100 level but she will drive a lot better offroad the difference will be noticeable. For the mpg saving stay stock size with 285/70/17, maybe consider the same height but a pizza cutter approach with BFG KO2 34x10.5x17, they are supposed to be 33.5” but skinnier, so less rolling resistance without sacrificing height.

I'll be on pavement most of every day of the workweek within a 5 county area so the shorter tires on a standard front height 2" lower rear will give me a comfortable ride. I have found I'm not off road much anymore anyway.
