I've had alot of issues installing my old Kicker amp so I'm looking to get a smaller one. I'm looking for something under $200 and 4 channels with a 50-75 RMS rating. What do you all recommend?? I was looking at a JL Audio on Sonic Electronix for $160 along with a Rockford Fostgate that was $199 but I would like some other input or confirmation that I'm heading in the right direction. What about MB Quart / RE Audio / ??? Any help would be appreciated.

MB Quart is good stuff but I think it's priced pretty high for what ya get. Alpine amps have too high a noise floor for me. I'm running one of JL's Slash Series amps (300/4) and really like it. I think you are on the right track. One other to look at is the Kenwood Excelon series amps.

Currently it's an older (2007 maybe) Kicker ZX 700.5, it is pretty huge and where the power/ground attach is ciruclar and I cannot get a connector in there very well which could account for some of my issues.

yes, the 700.5 is a nice amp...85x4 and 420 on the sub...you mean the RCA jack? yes, that could cause issues...

love my 700.5

The connectors for the power and ground don't accept a "connector" - just cut the sheathing back from the wires and shove 'em in there. Use the set screw to hold 'em tight.

Also, I moved the thread for you. ;)

Send the amp my way and I'll "dispose" of it for you!!!

Just kidding. That sucks. At some point I'll be upgrading my system, but I have too much on the list already!!!

Thanks for the info, I fixed the connectors; however, I still have a really loud pop when the amp kicks in. 2nd issue, one speaker was not working so I tested the RCA cable for it on different speakers and they didn't play so, bad RCA cable?? It worked just yesterday. I found an old Y splitter and ran the Left Rear RCA into the splitter and plugged it into the amp and bam, both rear speakers were playing again. Is it worth the trouble to remove the cables and ship back for new ones?? Does it really matter that I'm using a Y-splitter on the rear other than the fact I can't switch the rear balance? 3rd, how do you have your amp mounted - it's so big there isn't a lot of room and I put mine low and now the rear seat won't fold up all the way. And finally, my amp's green light which shows it has power even after my truck has been turned off a while which is a huge concern. I'm at the mercy of the more knowledgeable, please help.

To one of the bolts holding the loop at the top of the seat - I sanding all the paint off using the Dremel.

Side question that just occured to me, what if it's not the RCA cable but the Pac CHR connector that is bad, this is so frusturating.

Yeah I have an extra set of RCA's but I want the 4 channel as it's easier to run, I will use my spare set to test this weekend and make sure it's not the PAC harness. I hate pulling the cd player back out because I broke the red tab that holds the antenna in last weekend, at least I think that's what that tab did. I couldn't get the satellite antenna loose and was afraid I might break it. I still can't figure out the cause of the speakers popping.

yea, just plug new RCA's in and run across the seat to the amp, see if that fixes it before you run everything under carpet.

Well I tried numerous combinations and got some crazy results, I think it's defintely my amp. When I plugged an RCA cable into the rear/right the speaker quit, when I pulled it out it played with front but if I faded to rear it quit. I also had issues with the same speaker position when I had the amp in my old truck. Ironically, it start playing again as should at one point. I think I'm just going to get this amp Rockford Fosgate P400-4 400W RMS, Punch Series Compact 4-Channel and call it a day.....hopefully.

Thoughts on the RF amps? It will just be used for my 4 door speakers.

I would rather just get a new one that's smaller, mine is just too much for the setup I have and takes up too much space. I might look at getting it fixed so I can sale if it's worth the effort but I don't think I can PM until I get my post count up?
